Hearts still to pay supplier

277

The devastating news that Hamilton Accies were scammed out of £750k prompted Hearts to acknowledge their own victimisation on Friday evening: “Heart of Midlothian can confirm it was the subject of an internet fraud earlier this year. The matter is now part of an active police investigation and therefore no further comment will be made.”

What Hearts didn’t say is that the £80k they intended to pay to their supplier “earlier this year” remains outstanding. You can decide if that’s a result of arrogant bloody-mindedness or a financial tightness. I could believe either. The club should accept that whatever crime took place, they still need to pay their supplier.

This type of scam is far from rare, I know several victims and (literally) dozens who have been targeted in this way. Hearts initial reaction – telling no one about it, is the most common, as it averts reputational damage, but the wider interests are better served by making the scam public’ alerting other potential victims of the need for vigilance.

Hamilton Accies do great and expensive work developing young footballers. I hope the club have the wherewithal to continue.

34,500 Bayern fans applied for tickets for their away match at Celtic (31st October) the club were only allocated 3,200 tickets.

  9. Enjoying my first Dunkle beer from the rooftop barof the Motel one in Munich. Have a feeling it wont be my last of the trip. Special shout out to the 10 members of the young team who woke up this morning to find that their original flights from Glasgow via Belfast was cancelled, Undaunted they quickly sorted out an alternate route. Enjoyed the rendidion of “This is the day we win away ” as we landed in Duseldorf much to the bemusment of the locals. Hope it was an omen and that the lhads have a safe onward journey by train via Frankfurt, HH

  10. Drove down to thirsk today. Wee October break with the family.

Weird weather. 19 degrees late afternoon. That road from penrith to scotch corner is a bit mental.

Now it’s blowing a gale and I am in one of those plastic clad lodges shit scared it’s going to take off.

Gutted with the Sean Hughes news. Loved that bhoy on buzzcocks.

Also thinking of cork and a recently met coach of the youth teams.

  11. In a windy Manchester, stopped to marvel at the strangest sun trying to pierce the clouds on the drive down earlier today. Nature is a beautiful and powerful force, disrespect it at your peril.

The lhad is on his way to Munich as many of the young team are, I hope the force of nature is with them, and our club.

Question about the Accies thing, surely they didn’t have £750k of cash in their account, had someone gone in and maxed out their overdraft facility? Very strange.

  12. Same on that sun. Pinkish just visible. Weird omen.

There is ancient Viking saga about a pink sun foretelling that there will never be a handsome Hun.

    Or something like that.

  13. What is the Stars on

    Country has been battered today

Except for Dublin ( we got away with it again)

Hope it doesnt hit Scotland too bad, apparently its heading that way

    3 dead,Counties Cork,Waterford,Limerick,Tipperary got it worse,Cork especially,

almost 400,000 people without electricity (though the number is dropping)

In fairness it could have been a lot worse,Country was well prepared, all schools and colleges closed as did a huge amount of workplaces,

People stayed home and indoors, streets were deserted, hence the low casualities

Hope the worst is over,Corkcelt got it bad today and Thomthetim is under the cosh now

Thoughts and prayers with you all

  14. Ophelia could have been a lot worse. Best of luck to those still in its path. Wet & windy here in Dublin.

Oíche mhaith, especially to the Bhoys & Ghirls in Munchen.

  15. I’m fine Wits, a tree at the back fell into the back garden missed the house thank God, bent the T bar washing line like it was plastic. I reckon about 400 Euro worth of damage could have been a lot worse.

    Clean up starts tomorrow.

  16. As a bhoy posted, just watched highlights of weekend gamrs, the huns only team not to have ‘Show racism the red card’ on their strips, would have been ironic i know…..the tramps must only have 1 strip.

Good……………. it was the winds here that did the damage lots of

    trees down and electricity off

but as Almore says could have been much worse

Hope all the flights are ok for the bhoys travelling tomorrow

  19. Hello again all you young rebels.

Still pumping paracetamol into myself after a weekend with

the peninsula rebels, i’ve never seen anyone pour Guinness

down their throats the way that lot do and thats just the

ghirls, it’s got to be the hot sunny weather, so sympathies to

all you good people in Ireland who are suffering through the

hurricane and condolences to those who have lost loved ones.
