Hearts, Thistle, deny fans disclosure

309

It must cause some cognitive dissonance for Hearts and Partick Thistle to use the excuse that as the Court of Session refused to hear their claim against the SPFL, they are not prepared to allow the subsequent arbitration panel’s judgement to be published.

In a joint statement, the clubs wrote: “Hearts and Partick Thistle always wanted this matter to be heard in open court in the interest of total transparency.  If the SPFL had not sought to have that court action sisted for arbitration then all hearings would have taken place in the public domain, including any necessary examination of witnesses, consideration of documentary evidence and full legal submissions.

“We do not believe sharing the judgement on its own would be appropriate.”

We are deep in Trump-populist territory here.  The SPFL insisted the rules were followed and the Court of Session agreed, neither the League nor the Court had any choice in the matter.

The clubs’ statement goes on: “The SPFL went so far as to tell the member clubs that if they even wanted sight of their Answers to the Court of Session petition, they needed to enter the court proceedings.”  They did not add that the SPFL were legally obliged to restrict distribution of Court submissions to petitioners.

The arbitration panel’s judgement is the only document produced; this is the only item that can be disclosed. All parties need to agree to disclosure, the SPFL, Dundee United, Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers all gave permission, while Hearts and Thistle – the losers, declined.

The rules state that is the end of the matter, no one from the winning side has any complaints about disclosure rules being enforced by the losers.  So why are Fran and Anna still digging themselves into a deeper hole?  “In the interests of total transparency”, they wanted the SPFL and Court of Session to conspire to break League rules and as that did not happen, they want zero transparency.

Is it any wonder Hearts finished well below Hamilton and Ross County, while Partick finished 10 points adrift of Arbroath with these two in charge?  A period of self-reflection might reveal these two were significantly culpable in their clubs demise, and are wholly responsible for whatever punishment is handed out for breaking the rules by going to the Court of Session.

Can’t understand why we are interested in Toney. 25 in March having never performed at a level above the Championship and we are considering £5m. If he was 19 or 20, I could understand our interest, but I not at his age.

Gavin Strachan was his coach at Peterborough .

I think he rates him ,and brought him to our attention.

I must say I thought the same about Jamey Vardy when we were linked with him ,whilst he was a lower league player.

I thought the same about Gary Hooper…albeit he was a couple of years younger when we signed him, He proved me that a goalscorer is a goalscorer, no matter what level, Lets hope the same here if he comes to the Hoops.

  6. If we sign tonev and he is half decent he will score a lot of goals for us. Likewise, the two strikers sevco have signed will score a lot of goals. After all, a wee fat guy from colombia has scored 42 goals so far for sevco.

The standard in the spfl isn’t too high.

  7. unless you wilfully want to ignore the lessons off the past you would be silly to make sweeping statements about the relative strengths and improvements of the two squads WHILE WE HAVE TWO MONTHS OF THE WINDOW LEFT.

who knows if by selling Morelos (which they will have to now) and replacing him with these two they have improved their team.

Celtic do not have a history (at least not in the last 5 years) of making signings late in the window or post-CL qualification. So I’m not holding out for a raft of quality signings late in the window.

On the single leg qualifiers, we don’t face a trapdoor exit in the 1st round Champions League. Losing that game would drop us into the 2nd round Europa League, champions route.

The huns start their qualification journey seeded in the 2nd round Europa League thanks to them being gifted the Scottish Cup slot by SFA/SPFL. Aberdeen and Motherwell are seeded in the earlier 1st round of that competition, unseeded thereafter unless they beat a seeded opponent.

If the following ( from the BBC ) is true, it is classic dithering. If it is not true, Celtic should take Levein to court for malicious slander.

“Celtic have tried to sign Hearts’ Aaron Hickey “five or six times”, says former Tynecastle manager Craig Levein.

Hickey, 18, is in the final year of his contract at Hearts and has attracted interest from Bayern Munich, Aston Villa and Bologna.

The former Celtic youth player can play full-back and in midfield, with Hearts valuing him at £1.5m.

“Celtic tried to buy him back half-a-dozen times and that just got knocked back,” Levein told BBC Radio Scotland.

“Celtic tried to buy him back while he was in the first team, I think it was five or six times.”

  14. Nothing scunners me more about this site than reading comments like panty wetters etc because celtic men have a different opinion to the green tinted speck wearers . Some of them on here would settle for us not improving the areas in ur team that IMHO are glaringly needing improved . I’m getting a bit concerned when I see that mob tooling up with three quarters of a team in the well over 6ft mark . I have lost count of the times on here I have read that we have the better players , which I believe we do but they know our Achilles heel , we are too soft , too timid , they ran over us in the league cup final , they came to our place and beat us again which was the reason for them going on about wanting the games played .they honestly believed they could have taken 6 points from us ,and hoped for a favour from the other teams we had to play . My fear comes not from them buying two strikers who were , are hardly household names , no it comes from a shaky central defence . From an unsettled fullback area , and a soft as sh### midfield ,broonie exempt . But I’m surprised at Neil Lennon being the wee tiger he was , not seeing whats required . Recruits will be brought in but like most it will be ages before they get played .

I am truly sorry if Father Jack’s stuff was posted by TET- as he could have used his own sign in name. K used to be a valuable contributor here and has had a lot of family issues to deal with.

But the answers are not to be found in any of the alt-right to neo nazi spectrum blogs, and anyone posting these on any Celtic blog can expect short shrift.

As Frank Terry said- imagine putting yourself in the shoes of the parents of a dead child and you are told clearly that your child was an actor, and that your grief is acted, and that the whole thing was invented. I can think of few worse examples of evil behaviour.

If any of you, flirting with the white supremacist sites are saveable, then you need to understand where this impulse came from. I would recommend Andrew Marantz book “Anti-Social” – as he has taken the trouble to investigate who started all this fakery and what they hope to gain from creating the chaos around truth that leads us to the ultra-daft position where wearing a face mask has become part of the Culture Wars.

There are genuine nazis out there; there always have been. They are interested in recruiting more sharp suited Goebbells these days to produce their propaganda but they still have a lot of Ernst Roehm brownshirts, heavily armed, to back it up. And they are being assisted by the old traditional right with characters like Farage & Trump, who were never nazis but think they can ride the Nazi Tiger and make it work for them.

I genuinely am sorry for you and TET if you have fallen for that crap. I hope you will find a path out of it.

Some point’s about the amount of players who’ve left. If there are lots of player’s who don’t play and are a drain on resources, then why not get rid of them?

An ex Celt was being interviewed on radio the day after Ronny D, lost in penalties to RFC, and he pointed out that, in the previous four season’s Celtic had signed 60 players! A full team every season!

The ex Celt said in his day, 70’s and 80’s they would be lucky to see one player each season.

I wonder what was going through Brendan Rodgers head when he said “we’ve got million’s of wingers.”

Never heard of those 2 chumps the Zombies have signed and it doesn’t bother me.

What bothers me is us getting in a couple of decent quality players with maybe another young loanee (with a view to sign him) in the Dembelee or Edouard mould from maybe 1 of the French teams as they are churning out great young talent.

St Pauli’s fervent global support has little to do with what happens on the pitch and everything to do with the culture surrounding it.

And now, at a time when many clubs will be left on the brink in the aftermath of the coronavirus outbreak, they offer a window on a more sustainable future in the modern game.

  20. See what I mean with some Celtic supporters,This morning one being disrespectful to two Players Sevco have signed,Chumps he called them, well if I was you you better hope they are Chumps not Champions at the end of this season, make no mistake them Sevco and co will pull out all stops for Celtic not to achieve 10 in a row,so stop all this nonsense about us having better players etc,at the end off the seasons or before it ends we find out who are Champions.still say we don’t need another striker, defence is a priority.

  21. the way we set up to win games is to out score the opposition as defense docent appear to be the priority so having the best goal scorers/strikers makes sense

  23. The huns ate trying to improve their team. That is the objective of signing players.

Time will tell if they have improved.

Should we be concerned or worried. At this time, No.

However it would be foolish to ignore or disregard it.

Complacency is the enemy of many things.

    HH to all.

  24. Good morning friends from a dry but cloudy EK.

Signing players is less of a concern to me than the fact that we have reverted back to playing 1 striker. Even though we scored 5 on Sunday, our 3-5-2 approach from January to March was very effective and I’d prefer that we sign any new players with that formation in mind. .

  25. So they sign a couple of players (likely to offset the sale of their prized asset)

Now the negativity come pouring out

    “Who have WE signed eh?”

    Patience.

  26. Aaron Hickey will come to Celtic if its where he wants to go.

Celtic, Bologna and Bayern Munich are all willing to pay the fee. The lad is away out to Bayern Munich’s facility today for a tour. He visited Bologna last week.

He needs to be the man who replaces the man who has scored 77 goals in 138 matches.

The guy who also scored 46 goals in 62 matches.

The guy who is joint top scorer in the Europa league.

Losing Morelos is a massive blow to der hun. He is their best player, their link in attack and goalscorer.

If they hit the ground running, if they get goals from elsewhere, if they gel as a new team again, if Roofe avoids another injury.. if, if if…..No margin for error for them.

We outscored them by 89 to 64 in league goals in a season cut short.

Our ‘abysmal’ defence (still together and with Taylor now impressing) conceded 19 goals as per Der Hun.

You’re fearful. I’m not. The club has shown remarkable professionalism against complacency and 10IAR will galvanise us like no other season.

Nothing’s a gimme but your constant moaning of the imperious 9IAR, soon-to-be quadruple treble champions is a tad boring with little or nothing to back it up than fear itself.

Agree with this but to be fair on day 1 the chances created were phenomenal. Have we tried Paddy and Eddie up front yet? Is the Griff’s absence the reason why? Toney and Eddie (sounds like a 1980s duo) would be good…

There’s an old adage that can be applied across any business sector that delivers goods & services or recruits people.

Quick, cheap, good – you can’t have all three.

Sevco routinely tick the “quick” box.

There’s also a maxim that the best indicator of future performance is past and current performance.

Will give you Forster, but even then it was a loan and we were paying £15k a week in wages. Frimpong turned into a revelation for a cheap development fee from Man City, but not a first choice player if Elhamed was fit; he seems to have moved to first choice this season. Taylor was 3rd choice till around February this year and the jury is still out.

We are not in the habit of making nay major signings late in the window.
