    Read your post again …

That’s why you should post, never mind any other post, I sometimes read back and don’t even like my own :-) get posting, am not attending games just now so this is my link, but slowly but surely my daughter is getting more interested… I had to text her the team and if we scored, asked her if she wanted to watch it she answered “are you daft am going shopping with my aunties” my two sisters aren’t really football fans either

  2. GFTB:

If you believe that good luck to you and I hope you’re going to enjoy the next campaign.

Honestly, I can only trust what I’ve seen and what I’ve read and what I know and there is nothing that gives me the slightest confidence that this appointment has a single positive aspect.

I don’t know which notion I find the harder to stomach; that Lawwell thinks the fans are mugs who will swallow anything because Lennon “gets it” and he makes the announcement on the day we secure history … or that Lawwell might actually BELIEVE that Lennon is the best candidate.

To me it’s just an indefensible point of view. It is so out of whack with reality that I am literally dumbstruck that anyone even remotely agrees with it.

  3. WITS 10.02pm

I heard from a source that our left back today used to play left back when he was a kid :-)

I think quite a lot of people now know that

Thought Johnny had a very good game today, some really good work defensively

  4. Credit where it is due — world class performance today by the MIB.

WC — Please take a bow you really stepped up to the plate.

You did everything bar the honest mistake to try and stop us from winning.

Breaking up play, not playing advantage, seeing imaginary fouls and missing some blatant and targeted thuggery — every trick in the book was on show today.

And then came the nonsense from the touchline with the time added on.

Even then then the 5 minutes was not enough and you added on 24 seconds of your own and only blew up when we had a break.

WC standards for world class sir — world class.

  5. James 10.14pm

Again, are you totally dismissive that Neil might not have learned from his mistakes and might actually be a better manager ?

Again.. Brendan couldn’t beat the ex-Bolton manger in Leith

Or is your opinion I know better and “Lennon” is a rubbish manager… so it might be personal ?

  6. I’ve enjoyed the day, we just won our Rebel Treble.

Wow. History has been made, by our team, our Club.

    Again!

I’ve read some of the opinions on our new manager. Just some general thoughts……

NFL wasn’t my first choice of Manager, but after learning it was to be so a couple of weeks ago, I’ve gotten used to it.

He is more experienced now than he was then. He does know how to win in Scotland.

I would hope(don’t know) he will have identified targets and will have assurances from the club he will be backed.

The argument the football for the last couple of months is spurious, it wasn’t his team, nor did it play in the style he wants, he was keeping the squad ticking over.

Lastly and most importantly, he is now the man in the hot seat.

The only choice now is simple.

Back him or not. I’ll back him.

What will you do? Shout him down from the sidelines?

Or get behind him to continue to succeed.

He’ll loose games, he’ll likely get put out of a cup, that’s when he will need our backing most, when the SMSM go after him, and they will.

All the arguments about whether he should or should not be our manager are now irrelevant, he is.

Get behind the Club Bhoys and Ghirls.

The players will need the backing, the Lanarkshire Lodge will be making honest mistakes weekly, the SMSM will be after us at every opportunity, other teams will raise their agricultural game.

We don’t need internal criticism, we need unity.

  7. Regarding MIB — the guy at the Egg Chasing was almost WC.

He has a history of going against the NT and now he has moved down a rung.

His yellow card for the Leinster No.15 was shocking.

He took out SH in the air with an efficiency of a Stinger missile and yet only a yellow.

  8. i'vehadtochangemymind on

JF – BR’s celtic were shi*e this year ! Absolutely shi*e and if it wasn’t for a bit of luck with RC they would have been worse for a longer time.

  9. James Forrest,

who are you speaking on behalf of?,cause it certainly aint me

  10. DOC on 25TH MAY 2019 10:19 PM

Hail hail my friend, one of our best days in our football lives,

  11. GFTB:

A better manager than what? Come on, he’s had 12 games to show us what kind of manager he’s become.

Are you really not getting this? We’ve watched his audition.

He’s sat in press conferences and blamed the players, the tactics he refused to change, then the fans.

This is Neil Lennon, this is who we hired.

Whatever else people might want to accuse me of, I am not making any of this up. If you want to know the kind of manager he is, you only have to look and listen because what else were we watching for the last three months?

  12. Indeed it is VP, a day I’d put up there with the best of them.

    The very best of them.

Do we aim for the Quadruple treble or will the league just be enough for us..9 in a row and Europe after Christmas will be a successful season i reckon.

  15. James 10.25pm

Give me some credit … I can see why some don’t want Neil and I can see why others do…

Like it or not the team was in turmoil when the midnight flitter flitted … Young & old every Celtic I know was in shock (not many mates but a massive Celtic supporting family :-) the players were effected …

Any chance giving Neil to at least August before the character assassination (not just you) I have received many texts today from many and maybe it’s the emotion but only online I read the negatives … Michael Proudhome, Cocu, Beneitez (which got my gander up :-) Mourinho no thanks enjoy the moment and the moment is yet another trophy ?

Am all for Neil being put under the spotlight but surely a time and a place even it’s HIS team and not the other lifelong Celtic fan :-)

    NB,

you fuckin better believe it :) hail hail my friend, in Lenny I trust

  17. Today is undoubtedly another special day in Celtic folklore. The Portuguese Cup Final was also played today at where else but the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon and it was looking just like May 25th 1967. The final was between Porto and Sporting de Lisboa. Fantastic to see the Hoops lift the Cup in that stadium again and fantastic to see matches being played there in all its glory. With this win Sporting get the double.

    Meus parabens Sporting!!!

    You are in big trouble

That’s twice in the one day we have been on the same wavelength

    Fools seldom differ :-)

Delighted you enjoyed your day, thousands other did as well :-)

    (Just not on here :-)

  19. Just when you thought that things couldn’t get any worse than 2009 — paying big money to bring in BTM who was 10th equal in a short list of 12 with only MMcG being seen as a weaker choice.

However the exec level and the Irish Raj have excelled themselves with their choice of NL as the man to take us forward — just what are they thinking about?

  20. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    GFTB,

I wisny in shock, I predicted it before Christmass and betted Turkeybhoy a score to Mary’s meals that he’d be away in the January window.

Wonder if he ever honoured that bet?

  21. GFTB, I’ll retire from CQN :-)

I’ve seen many enjoy their day on here, I’m sure those who are disappointed with the managerial situation enjoyed the achievement as much as you and I.

  22. THELURKINTIM:

I’m not a fortune teller. I am speaking for myself. I think it will end in disaster. I will not describe the landscape in which I think we’ll find ourselves, but I do know what it is that I am worried about. I know what my own version of Worst Case Scenario looks like, and I won’t describe it here or anywhere else.

And I hope I’m wrong, in every way. Genuinely, I want to be here this time next year writing the world’s most grovelling apology. Because as you’ll probably know I pinned my colours to the mast the day he got the gig on the “interim basis” and I’m right out on the limb today in writing what I already have on the blog.

And I will look like the biggest tit on the planet if we sweep everyone aside next season.

But you know what? I won’t have been wrong. I will praise Lennon to the absolute rafters if he succeeds on the scale some people here hope … but I will not have been wrong. This has never really been about Lennon anyway, this is about the board and the choices they’ve made.

And whatever happens here, if I’ve read this right, it’s on them more than him … none of us, if we were in the shoes he found himself in, unemployed and quite possibly at the end of his managerial career, only for this opportunity to come along … none of us would refuse it if we had any sense.

I’ll blame them, wholeheartedly. Because if they didn’t ask themselves the kind of questions some of us have been asking all these months then I don’t know how any of them can call themselves custodians of anything other than their own egos and their own bank balances.

They’ve done our club a colossal disservice today, and really I wish with all my heart I believed otherwise. No, I’m not a fortune teller … I am very, very, very worried about our club though.

  24. Just before I hit the sack….Thank you Celtic for bringing us a Treble Treble on the 25th May. Thank you CQN for bringing me the Treble Treble as I was refreshing every 90 seconds. How anyone can feel anything but ecstasy tonight is beyond me. When you read the history, today will not make you sad – unless you really want to be.

  25. Canalamar 10.40pm

I see the positive & negative of Neil being our manager but nothing I would ever type will change it, my mate texted me at 6pm he had £50 at 7/2… it’s not my type of bet

Delivering the league & Scottish Cup in my opinion gives Neil a shout at the job when he can play his own players

Historical season but also a very strange one

  26. Regarding the current mood with the support.

    Two things loom large …

    1) We were mince today — we only won because Hertz were mincer.

    2) The appointment of NL as the new manager is the revenge of the bean counters.

Not sure why we are hoarding cash but the Biscuit Tin is now the size of an Amazon warehouse.

Huge change is required this summer.

Unfortunately we have made the worst possible start.

  27. Peter Lawwell saying there is “a wee bit of rebuilding to do in the summer”

At least that has been identified at Board level, and PL is now on record.

Thanks for your concern. I’ve been cursed with leg ulcers since last October.the worse pain I have ever known. I appear to be on the mend and, hopefully full health. At last I feel able to post on here again. Just have to avoid the keyboard hardmen. HH and YNWA.

You have came away with a few crackers this evening, goodness knows what you were going through in the 90s

“They’ve done our club a colossal disservice today”

Hope you didn’t witness Raith Rovers and 4th or worse in the league

    On that note …..

    Neil Francis or Brendan Rodgers

Do we want the best or just settle for somebody who wants to be there … and remember sometimes the “best” will only be here until a Wolverhampton come along ….

The board come and go, the manager(s) come and go, the players come and go …. Celtic is the constant

Good night and god bless …. remember Huns canny help themselves unhappy Celts choose to be unhappy :-)

    Neil Francis Lennon CSC

Brendan left Celtic for Leicester for more money … Neil left Leicester for Celtic for less money … fact ?

  30. CELTIC40ME:

As long as people wanna talk, I’m gonna talk to them if that’s alright with you? Yeah?

    GFTB:

I was here throught the 90’s, and I never missed a game. Never. I am one of those who “endured” and so the idea, as Lennon put it, that his critics are the spoiled children of an era that never knew defeat was, and remains, offensive to me.

Your statement about “Lennon left for less money” is a total distortion of fact. Lennon left because he had had it, the job had bored him, and he hadn’t been hiding that fact terribly well from the board who were perfectly happy to see him go.

Ronny Deila was famously offered the chance to go and be his assistant; you know why? I know what the plan there was, and it’s pretty obvious if you want to think about it. Ronny was being put in place to instil the professionalism the board felt was lacking, the modernity they felt we needed.

And that’s not conjecture or guesswork, it’s a fact.

Today the same board has torn up five years of progress in an act of un-necessary self-immolation. To call it a disservice is to be kind to them. Apart from anything else, when you take away how Celtic fans feel about it and how the media here feels about it – and they are delighted, and that should give us all pause – I can only imagine what the rest of the world thinks our club looks like.

Newcastle fans for one are laughing their arses off. “And they thought their club would appoint RAFA?”

We have reduced ourselves in the eyes of football by appointing this guy for no other reason than he’s “one of our own.” It insular and pathetic and they are entitled to view us with disdain tonight.

  31. Back to reality…jamesforrest..I agree with almost everything you have posted over the past few weeks…but..now is a time for consolidation…like it or not…back soon

  32. jinkyredstar on

From March 23rd 1962 to today- proud, happy, tearful (for those no longer with us) and looking forward to whatever the Celtic love story brings.

    Night night all

    Hail hail

  33. James

My point about Neil leaving for less money was as a player from Leicester to us

The analogy was Brendan doubling his salary leaving his dream job

  34. 31003:

Had the board even given us one weekend to enjoy this before advertising their lack of ambition I might have been in a more concilliatory mood. My anger today is in direct proportion to my disbelief that they chose to mark this special moment in such a cynical way.

  35. I had suspected NL would be appointed. When Peter says there is no better candidate what he means is there is nobody better suited to the position that will align with how the Board want things to be. There is a good case for appointing NL as Manager. He is solid appointment who should deliver a strong points tally in the League. There are also lots of reasons not too but they are irrelevant now as it is a done deal.

Today and recently it has been galling to see on the pitch how much the quality has been stripped from the squad in just a short period of time. There are so many players who should not be playing at a Club at our level. There are so many top players who have not been replaced.

PL has on this occasion got his man and it is now clear to see what the ambitions of the Celtic Board actually are. Economically this is a good appointment for the Board.

As a final point i have to say the manner of the appointment is bizarre and reeks of amateurism. Today was about the players and the supporters enjoying themselves and a tremendous achievement. The appointment should have been confirmed on Monday in a more professional manner, not in a dressing room shower room.

Now lets get on with it.
