best present this year by far, fascinating book, an incredible amount of research has went in. Many new discoveries for myself and almost a “i didnt know that moment on every page”,
the last few years I have been at several matches at crownpoint.
the book tells me that the original saint marys hall , sat to the left of the south goalposts. so i have stood in the very spot that celtic were born,
i like that.

Good post – 54% wins is not good enough
The fitness issue is a massive cause for concern. One of the areas we should be ahead on is sports science given the facilities we have available. We could always run for 95 minutes, minimum. As much part of the fabled Celtic Way, as the attack, attack, attack mantra.
*during the centenary season wee doddie remarked that when other teams are in the bath Celtic are still playing.

Whilst there were more pleasing aspects to yesterday’s match, the performance did little to convince me that we are back on track.
On top of that, we are completely toothless up front without Griffiths, and without Brown we lack steel in midfield. Ronnie must address these areas in January – if he doesn’t – if he really thinks a draw at Swinecastle is a good result – then he is even more out of his depth than I thought.
*what Ronny says in public and in private re 2 different things, a bit like MON on arriving at CP stating the zombies were the benchmark while in the dressing room he was telling a shell shocked group of players we would win the league.
I’d rather he said things like he thought we played good than castigating the players and telling them they were Raphael.
I was in management for years and one thing I learned was in treating each of the employees differently. I got that fae Big Jock who would put his arm around wee Jinky but his toe up the Bear’s erse.

I’d hoped for a bit more consistent sometimes after the 18 month mark, then I read his last team did not click till 24 months into it, Celtic you’d think are a bigger prospect and proportionally, that 24 months might work on a pro data basis, so how many months over the 24 month mark should oh wait
*He already has a double under his belt and we are still enroute for a treble.
As for Europe, apart from a few great nights we stopped being a top European side in 1974 after the argies in athletico strips kicked us of the park.
And FFS please don’t mention Seville, apart from a great day out we lost, no different tae Milan in 1970. Aye we should have won both games but we didnae.

I’m glad Bosman wasn’t the miserable sort. Bosman was a fighter who actually thought, feck I am a fighter, let me fight for the right to be equal… TO BE EQUAL.
*aye and what happened tae him. He took on the big boys and eventually lost.
After winning 20 caps at youth level he played only 17 games for another 4 clubs, ended up bankrupt and was sentenced to a year in prison following an assault on both his girlfriend and her daughter allegedly over his then girlfriend’s refusal to give him an alcoholic drink.

How often do we need to see players being played in positions which does not suit them ?
*in spite of protests from the fans that he was only a right sided midfielder WGS had Broonie playing all over the midfield in an effort tae turn him intae the perfect midfielder. He’s now the captain of both club and country.
Big Jock turned Bobby Murdoch from an average inside forward intae a world class right half.
John Clark from an average right half intae a sweeper that made Big Billy the player he became.
Big Yogi went fae a frustrating centre forward intae a frustrating (for the defenders that was) left winger. Think oul Jimmy first did that.
Bobby Lennox from an average inside forward intae a buzz bomb goal scoring machine.
Andy Lynch fae an average left winger tae first choice left back, won 3 League Titles, 2 Scottish Cups, scoring the winner in one of them, and became the club captain. Prior to playing left back Jock tried him out at centre in the reserves and also in a cup tie at Boagheid. He must have seen something in him.
I could go on but recall being in the Wexford Club many moons ago and a current at that time Celtic director telling me that Brian McClair thought he was Paul McStay when in fact he was a better goalscorer than midfielder. Looks like Davie Hay was right.
BFDJ went fae a useless centre forward tae an equally useless centre half. Oh well you cannae get them all right.
It’ all about finding the best positions for some players and you only get that on the pitch and not the training ground.
It’s also about playing the only fit and half fit players you have as a result of the hammer throwers who are protected by the Stoßtruppen

Can anyone name a player that Ronny has developed ? no googling
Over Christmas I came into contact with many people (young, old , male, female)
Germany, English, French, Polish, Turkish, Swiss
I asked them to name me one person who is currently employed in Scottish football. A player, a coach, an employee.
Everyone drew a blank.

Good call on Darnell Fisher. He arrived at Celtic as a midfielder but was moved to right back due to injuries in the youth team. I believe St Johnstone have played him in mdfield during his loan.
I was impressed with Darnell when he made his debut against Hibs . He appeared to be targetted by Hibs and held his own and did not appear intimdated by it.

If you’re watching the Hibs v Huns, watch #18 for Hibs, McGinn is who I be after for our midfield, good player who can mix it up when needed
HH
gsu
Stubbs has got Hibs wiring in to Sevco. McGeoch being singled out for special treatment.
I don’t see much of Huns so be good to see £5m Lee Walkace in action
Alan Stubbs knows the score…
Hubs might have players who are technically weaker than their Celtic counter parts but they have better work rate and desire ….
McCall in co commentary lets out a loud groan when Huns miss a sitter somehow can’t see Andy walker doing the same when we pass up a chance
hehehehehe
