Sorry for the downtime.  Server problems and I was out of the country this week.  Will respond to emails later – thanks to all who got in touch.  Never leave home, is probably the best advice.

My Commercial suggetion was light-hearted ; I didn`t expect you to take it seriously! I should have known better !!

The truth is, I don`t drink very much now as I suffer too much on the day after so a Glasgow trip would be better for me.

IMHO, a move to Newcastle would be a good one for Kieran Tierney.

Police investigations discovered that against advice, Thomas Campbell was allowed to keep a gun licence for years because he was in the same masonic lodge as the Chief Constable.

This information was suppressed from the public inquiry by order of the judges.”

    Is that definitely true?

If so, the often mentioned improvements in the Scottish Establishment are ficticious claims.

  9. The 100 year closure order was made by Lord Cullen. We all know the persistent rumours about child sex rings, high profile politicians and Masonic links.

Why the secrecy? What are they covering up ?

  11. *SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2022-23*

    *RESULTS FROM GAME #41 – HEARTS 0 CELTIC 3 (MOOY, KYOGO, CARTER-VICKERS) *

Good morning, friends. And it’s good to be back home!

I did manage to get to The Irish Fiddler in Costa Adeje to see Saturday’s quarter final decapitation of Hearts and felt that it was one of our best performances of the season. We could have been 2 up before Mooy scored the opener after 100 seconds – talk about a fast start! We now find ourselves just 2 Hampden performances away from winning Ange his first Scottish Cup and quite possibly another treble. We really should savour these special times where the entertainment on offer is quite fantastic.

Domestically this season we have now played 34, winning 32, drawing 1 and losing 1, scoring 115 and conceding 23.

A huge thank you to the 65 who emailed me with their 3 nominations. The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked. And even though I was clearly out on a limb I thought that Greg Taylor had a fantastic game!

    Hart: 7

    Johnstone: 31

    Carter-Vickers*: 56

    Starfelt: 0

    Taylor*: 1

    McGregor: 2

    Hatate: 13

    Mooy: 37

    Jota*: 27

    Kyogo: 21

    Haksabanovic: 0

    Kobayashi: 0

    Abada: 0

    Oh: 0

    O’Riley: 0

    Iwata: 0

And so the players receiving POINTS for the game against Hearts are –

    Carter-Vickers – 5 pts

    Mooy – 4 pts

    Johnstone – 3 pts

    Jota – 2 pts

    Kyogo – 1 pt

An interesting development (for anoraks like me!!) – that’s 3 games in a row where Hatate hasn’t made the Top 5. Not because his own performances have dipped but rather that others have all upped their game. Particularly Carter-Vickers who, in the last 6 games has been MOTM twice, runner up once and 3rd placed twice. But can he close the gap at the top……..

So, after 41 games the overall standings are as shown below –

    86 points – Hatate

    70 points – Carter-Vickers

51 points – Jota and Mooy

    44 points – Kyogo

43 points – McGregor and Taylor

    31 points – Abada

    28 points – O’Riley

    26 points – Maeda

    22 points – Jenz

19 points – Johnston and Starfelt

    16 points – Haksabanovic

13 points – Giakoumakis and Juranovic

    10 points – Ralston

9 points – Bernabei and Welsh

    8 points – Forrest

    7 points – Hart

    5 points – Turnbull

    4 points – Kobayashi

0 points – Abildgaard, Iwata, Lawal, McCarthy, Oh, Siegrist and Vata

Our next game sees us return to league business on Saturday when we have a 3pm home kick off against Hibs. As things stand, we need 22 points from our final 10 games to be crowned Champions. Again!

I suspect that Ernie Lynch is voluntarily removing himself from this site.

The mod admitted that he had mistaken the sender of an abusive e-mail and Ernie had not deserved any lengthy ban.

It looks like Ernie posted once on Sentinel Celts but did not go back on there and I haven’t seen him on any other Celtic site.

It was all a strange period when the Mod seemed to get very upset with us and there was a wee bit of “impersonation” of posters going on from one of our multiple name trolls.

I have no hesitation in declaring Davie Hay as my personal favourite in the quality street gang. Obviously Kenny and Danny were the stellar performers but Davie played the game in a way I wish I was able to do. George Connelly could have been the best of all but demons and insecurity stopped that. The one I think we made the biggest mistake on was John Gorman. Given, we sold Tommy Gemmell in ’71, I reckon John could have been slotted in ahead of the tough but limited Jim Brogan, converted winger Andy Lynch (our Tavpen) or Mark Reid. John played for a very good Carlisle side and was transferred to Spurs in the second half of the 70’s. He could have been a very good Celtic LB.

Gp.The above statement is basted in ignorance imo.You are sweeping and generalizing the protestant unionist into the bigot bucket when they are not.

Not all in the stateen are bigots.there is no need to sweep ordinary law abiding folk into the same intransigent swipe at the extremes.

Are you a bigot? Of course your not.

You support unionism….in its labour party guise.

Not a sliver of paper could be divided between lab protecting the establishment and Tories.

“Is it pure wishful thinking that maybe with another class signing or two we can have a side capable of a sustained run in the CL in the next season or so?”

    ——————————-

Depends on what you mean by sustained?

The biggest hope we have got is from automatic entry to Group Stages. The sheer odds of getting by 3 or 4 qualifying ties, even against teams where you are favourites to win, was what hampered us most years. Anyone trying to get a treble or quadruple bet of “certainties” up will know the difficulty ( I liked the response to an online betting tout offering to sell you “Certainties” tips at Cheltenham; a responder said ” In the past 30 years of Cheltenham racing there have only ever been 12 certainties and only 4 of them won). Even as 4th seed, we have a fighter’s chance of besting the 3rd seed and an outsider’s shot at one of the top 2 team if they decide to play reserves that upset their rhythm against us.

Then we need one further miracle to get by a last 16 tie. We came very close against AC Milan once but it is a big ask. Smaller teams than us have made it into the quarter finals but it is very rare. Teams with a far superior recent European record to us (Benfica, Ajax, Porto, Sevilla, Shaktar Donetsk) can make q-finals but very rarely do they get to semis or finals.

The odds against getting past a q-f stage (of the CL) are exponential with the increase in teams allowed entry from the big leagues. No longer do you need to get a favourable result against one Spanish, English or German team; you now have to defeat 3 or 4 billionaire teams from each of those leagues plus Italy and France.

Of course, the Huns have shown that getting deep into Europa is possible if we prefer but……

I have said it before and will repeat it again. Our Seville achievement in being a losing finalist has been matched by the likes of Alaves, Fulham, Middlesborough, Bragg, Dnipro and Sevco (2x). However, if you look at the 6 sets of finalists before that Frankfurt:Sevco final, you will see the names of CL level teams competing in the finals so that may be becoming harder too. Getting to a Europa final is about the same level of achievement as getting to a Q-F spot in the CL.

We can hope and we can dream but achieving it is going to be hard. Whatever signings we make to enhance our very promising team this summer coming, will be eclipsed by the player expenditure of more than 20 clubs who will be our competitors in the 32 team group stages of CL and by around half the teams that get to Europa League last 16.

i could not give 2 hoots about his origins.

Nice wee squirrel talking bout the nazi sympathys in 1930s will it help you explain the war criminal? Was that behaviour nazi like? Was that 100 years ago? No.20 or so years ago.

Chat away bout the nazi sympathizers of 100 years ago who founded the snp shine as much light as you can on it.it is irrelevant to modern Scotland, racism is inherent in all parties noting the infiltration of orange order members within it.especially when the doyen of working class parties is just over 20 years on from wiping out and displacing 1,000,000 human beings, how remiss we are,to be selective in memory when talkin of nazi like behaviour.

I want to cede and breakaway from the union,no harm in that, its nowt to do with the snp or their nazi sympathizers, there was nazi sympathizers in the uk gov and like now their fawning poodles where ambivelent in the meeja right up until coalitition.riddled with them.
