Helsingborgs IF are sixth after 17 games in the Swedish Allsvenskan, seven points off Elfsborg and Malmo, who ended Scotland’s interest in the Champions League last season. Our opponents clearly play it tight on the road, they have lost only eight goals away from home, considerably fewer than anyone else in the league (Malmo: 19), although their home goals for and against are not unusually low (scored 14 to Malmo’s 16 at home, conceded nine to Malmo’s one).
Helsingborgs have lost only three league games, fewer than anyone else. Four draws from nine home games appears to have cost them most ground in the title race.
Celtic can expect to face a tight defence who are well versed at shutting teams out in the second leg in Glasgow where they will need the creative talents of Kris Commons with perhaps Paddy McCourt p[laying a role. A big European-night atmosphere at Celtic Park will be invaluable.

a dangerous precident has been set, exactly what uefa\fifa do not want, all future uefa\fifa punishments for similar action can be challenged in court. I think there might be more to come on this :o)

Shame on you, sir, for that refernce to Ronnie Glavin!! A man who was cleared by a jury in a very short space of time in relation to that charge and who perhaps should never have even stood trial in light of the evidence that was available!
In fact going further, there are those who were at Celtic Park at the time who– well lets just say didn’t cover themselves in glory in relation to the Glavin affair and to be honest were more concerned about the reputation of the club rather than actually provide some support or listen to the man— or his legal team– as to his innocence.
When he was acquited— there was a great deal of shoe shuffling and mumbling in embarrassment, as Anyone who knew anything about that situation knew who exactly started that fire and what happened to Ronnie in the confines of a police cell. Not the kind of employers I would want anyone I know to work for.
Thankfully it is a closed chapter and none of the people concerned remain at Kerrydale Street. However it is hard to shake off rumour and innuendo– even when the court throws it out on its ear!
On other matters, The maximum penalty for the unlawful demolition of a listed building is a period of 6 months imprisonment or a fine of up to £20,000.
There is many a developer who could tell you that fact without recourse to the act for some reason!!!!

Celtic don’t own the school, so it’s a tad harsh to blame the wicked Board for deliberately allowing it to fall in to the present state.
I would imagine the Club will have a conditional agreement to buy the school, subject to the proposed development getting planning consent.
Bada Bing
Damn right.
Just a thought on Goodwillie – people were going on about the questionable nature of the fella who played in Bulgaria – is Goodwillie any worse?
He has been involved in dodgy stuff – caught on TV fighting and the other thing.

I shudder to think what the full story there might be.
Luxcelt-The first time BTM had heard of him was when he rocked up at Lennoxtown one morning,a PL /John Park production mate.
My job is to wipe the sand off the female beach volleyball players after every game. It’s £30 an hour. That’s all I can afford to pay.
Ps Happy with first leg away from home.

I took part in a 5 a side tournament at Glasgow University in the 70’s and we played a team who called themselves Ronnie Glavin’s Fire Raisers. Celtic fans having a laugh or embittered Partick Thistle fans?
Anyway, they beat us 3-2 after us being 2-0 up…I scored both our goals so I don’t think it was me who was at fault..(not that I’m bitter)

the line is
rfc accept they were wrong, accept original sanction
make reparation (pay sfa bill)
so no problem and no precedent
uefa and fifa use sfa and scots as a bulwark against the FA.
Their’s is a more special relationship than ole Ron and Maggie

Now….will you please boot these ratbags out of the game altogether before any more damage is done?

BRTand H- I am happy to find out that the Ronnie Glavin pyromania story can now go in the Big Bin of Truth along with the Marianne Faithfull concocted confectionery.
On the wider point, it seems that once a building is listed then too little is subsequently done to preserve it in a reasonable state, so that the eventual loss of the building becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

ASonOfDan seems to think I am ‘deluded’ for saying that Lawwell makes signings – your story completely reinforces what I have said. i am sure (sadly) that braafheid wasn’t the only one.
I hav eno problem with someone other than Neil controlling the signing of players (if neil’s job description is purely to coach) but that person should know about football. Lawwell clearly doesn’t and interferes where he is unqualified.
The Tower of Pisa is a listing building?

Yip. There’s a plan as part of the planning application which clarifies what land Celtic currently own and what they don’t.
I like the ‘avenue of legends’ idea the Gazebo would be buzzin with stars.

row z,,,.
the rules are about court action, I understand what your saying, but having a case heard in the civil courts is the offence, regardless of the outcome, that requires sanction and if it goes unpunished more will follow. The precident being the case took place and no punishment applied.
Luxcelt-agree totally mate.
Tia Sharps body found in Grans house..f scumbags.
johnnyclash,
I sit corrected, so do they get the land for nothing then
Bada bing- very sad,may God rest the wee soul.
This evenin’ I will be mainly sitting out in the garden drinking wine, eating humus and listening to Strawberry Switchblade.
Have a good weekend hoopsters and good luck to Peterheid.
J/C -they did a cover of ‘Jolene’?; not a bad stab at it, but not as good as the original.
Bada Bing. What is incredible is that police have warned people not to approach the grandmother’s boyfriend if they see him. (picks up jaw)
They let him walk? Without following him?
The oul’ school looks like a bliddy eyesore always has and served it’s purpose years ago. waste of space and any plans to provide more matchday facilities and encourage supporters to get to CP earlier is to be encouraged
Fans spending a tenner each on a few beers and food is good revenue currently being sponged up by surrounding businesses…keep the money in the club if wherever possible!
Do agree with the view that we don’t need another tin box style building and a subtle fusion of current CP facade and the new cycle track would be perfect.
Helsingborg are going to be a real test. Anyone that thinks the Scottish champions are superior to the Swedish champs is not being realisitc.
We started our game against Helsinki with no home grown players – depsite what anyone says about the quality of our youth development -they simply don’t cut it at the 1st team level. The evidence is compelling…..a compete disgrace in my view and whilst I feel we will overcome the Swedish challenge this time – we are not operating a viable youth system if our manager doesn’t trust them to do a job in the big team.
We should not be buying in all our talent from other clubs’
The model has been wrong for donkeys years
and
we still need a midfield playmaker and a frigging striker
other than that, everything is just dandy ;-)

Ah the oul Marrianne Faithful Confectionary Conjecture…………. Sure it never happened… she was just taking the Mick!!!
And you are correct– there is many a building listed which then sits in total disuse because….. it is listed and can’t be modified or renovated because of its listing. Some buildings have been listed because of the windows…… so even keeping the windows and sorting out the rest would seem a sensible option? Na— not as simple as that!!!
Now– smashing the windows– does that delist the building?
Nope not as simple as that either.
An MP can be dismembered and a chanter disenchanted easier than a building can be delisted… and that’s a fact!

I understand your logic. Problem is you are trying to apply logic to the sfa and uefa.
Remember this is a sting. Logic has no place at this corrupt table. This is the polis cell where the four witnesses to your assault are all polis.

Lux celt …..with everything that has happened in Scottish Football / Economy / match-fixing etc, I feel Peter has done a wonderful job ….. and we are starting to see the fruits of his / Celtic’s EXCELLENT management, in the face of the worst developing scandal in World Football History …….. Be careful what you wish for …… Remember how Fergus was treated …

Man Utd dropped the share price for their listing on NYSE from $20 to $14 knocking $100m off the original amount that the Glazers thought they were going to get.
As someon once said…You’d have to have a heart of stone not to laugh.
Better, fitter, higher, stronger … No excuses CFC … Best chance for years to give the fans some decent football fayre
Bloke109- if the basic choon is good enough [and clearly Jolene is] then it can take a bit of tweakin’
I’m sure theremust be other ‘slow’ versions out there, given the subject of the song.
