Helsingborgs IF are sixth after 17 games in the Swedish Allsvenskan, seven points off Elfsborg and Malmo, who ended Scotland’s interest in the Champions League last season. Our opponents clearly play it tight on the road, they have lost only eight goals away from home, considerably fewer than anyone else in the league (Malmo: 19), although their home goals for and against are not unusually low (scored 14 to Malmo’s 16 at home, conceded nine to Malmo’s one).
Helsingborgs have lost only three league games, fewer than anyone else. Four draws from nine home games appears to have cost them most ground in the title race.
Celtic can expect to face a tight defence who are well versed at shutting teams out in the second leg in Glasgow where they will need the creative talents of Kris Commons with perhaps Paddy McCourt p[laying a role. A big European-night atmosphere at Celtic Park will be invaluable.

a private developer is building a hotel and shops directly across
london road. No benefit to Celtic.
The ‘station corridor’ is being built by the games authority and redirects the ole Springfield Rd up to the front of the ‘triangle’. Again, nothing to do with Celtic but we should benefit.

BBC Reporting Scotland tea time update…………………………from Peterhead on Sevco’s Third Division debut.
Stuart Jimmy Clitheroe McCall has just made the most stupid statement I have ever heard from any sport related person.
The ginger hun, when talking up his team’s chances against Levante took consolation from the Mutha’s performance against Panathinaikos.
“There were noothing between t’sides apart from t’goals”
Take a bow you dumb stupid hun.

Noticed a more than a few references on here to the redevelopment of the old London Road School. Cannot see anything on the official Celtic site, can somebody please point me to a link to this story?

Thanks for that! Quite a bit to go through! Obviously will be a bit of a debate over the school, but I am glad Celtic are at least looking ahead. That is what we should be doing!
If the plans go through the surrounding area around Celtic Park will look magnificent!!!

regarding c/l draw – cross my fingers and hope we get through it, the rewards are massive, might help fund the developments proposed by celtic, at least thats where i would use the money, far better that than just giving it to players in the longer term.
regarding london raod school ~ it has sat empty for over a decade because it was falling to bits and was not fit for purpose. i actually like the school but in its current state please spare me, celtic have less money avalaible than GCC, if they cant afford to do it up then neither can we and it is now an eyesore soon it will become a dangerous eyesore. i dont think it is worth saving and some political influence should ensure that romantics dont obstruct realists.
regarding plans for future use ~ i like them and they are a massive improvement on what currently stands there, is obviously more afforadable to the club, will generate significantly more income and will improve visits to celtic park (facilities). the design of the new building although not to everyones liking will fit into the environment better than the old school and will allow for the range of services celtic wish to offer.
finally there are far better designed building in glasgow that are in use and are fit for purpose. i dont think many if anybody comes to parkhead or celtic park to see that old schoo.

Normally I’d be 100% conservationist at all costs, and it’s cost that’ll determine the landscape ultimately. However, it might be better to go for a clean, fresh, innovative look, to avoid the Celtic Museum etc always being just the ole London Rd School they
turned into a Celtic Museum etc.

Good evening CHAMPIONS
No a bad draw for the qualies. Could have been a lot worse. I fancy our chances.

Was out most of the afternoon but from a quick look at the comments on here re London Rd school, I think regardless of what Celtic FC do, they’ll be uneasy to please those who don’t like to be pleased.

Huff the Sevco (soon to be IL) HT, but thanks for you’re concern in this regard TAL
I personally think the school is an eyesore,,so i have no problem with a new structure being built!!

Sitting round the back in the sunshine or what’s left of it drink wine and beer reading Raymond Chandler’s The Big Sleep but l keep nodding off.
Evening Celts, our Lenny and his team will be very well versed in the dangers and Weaknesses of Helsinki, it’s a bloody shame we have to go across the Atlantic to play a meaningless friendly, no disrespect to our American Celts but this game replaces a Sat 3pm KO at Celtic Park.
It looks to me like someone is planning….. Just not very well.

think that will be a massive benefit to celtic as it will bring more people into the envios of our stadium and with the housing development (1400) new homes after the commonwealth games the area will see a sigificant increase in population again celtic should benefit.
celtic own significant strips of land which should be very well priced after the commonwealth games. think celtic will sell of a lot of this land for a profit after the commonwealth games (commercial/ housing), hopefully leaving space to build their own sports bar, supports club bar and hotel
the transformation taking place around celtic park over the last 5 years has been significant and the potential for celtic to grow the business over the next 4 years is massive.

Work-wise I can’t take two days off and I love the European away games. So it’s Thomas Cook. Went with them to Rennes. But this time around… £299 plus match ticket, plus ATOL fee plus credit card charge. And the flight isn’t leaving Glasgow until ‘between 11.30am and noon’. Depending on kick-off time that doesn’t leave a bundle of time in the town, although the flight is into the local airport. Decisions, decisions.

I would be very surprised indeed if the old London Road school is beyond salvation, the Castle through at Lennoxtown is in a far worse state but even there I believe it could be rebuilt as part of a hotel development plan for that area. Even so while I would not be in favour of the old Glasgow Planning manouevre (otherwise known as up in smoke) I do believe it could be dismantled with the traditional stone materials incorporated into a new structure, a Celtic Academy or a Celtic Hotel on another site. Interesting times though.
Charlie Green claiming that his use of the word ‘bigotry’ was in reference to the original French ‘bigotaire’ which has nothing to do with religion.
