HENDERSON SET FOR ITALIAN JOB

1

CELTIC midfielder Liam Henderson looks poised for a move to Italian outfit Bari.

The 21-year-old has been training with the promotion-chasing Serie B club as he nears the Parkhead exit.

Henderson has made only one substitute’s appearance this season and has faded from the first team picture.

Reports in Italy indicate the Scotland Under-21 ace has been training with Bari under the management of World Cup winner Fabio Grosso.

Henderson is attempting to impress his potential new boss and the outcome could be a permanent move from the champions.

He had a highly successful loan spell at Hibs two seasons ago when he starrred in their Scottish Cup triumph, setting up two goals in the Final win over Sevco Rangers.

Bari are reportedly set to lose midfielder Leandro Greco to Foggia, which could create a void for Henderson to fill.

Grosso’s side are fourth in the second tier, five points behind leaders Palermo as they chase a place in the top flight.

Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.

Tom Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.
