HERR WE GO FOR CALMAC AND CO

CALLUM McGREGOR faces a hectic summer without a break before he kicks off the 2024/25 season.

Hopefully, Celtic’s influential captain will be involved in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on the iconic date of May 25 as the present campaign reaches a crescendo which could also see the twelfth Premiership title in 13 years already residing in the Parkhead trophy cabinet.

And, just 20 days later, the 30-year-old midfielder will almost certainly be lining up with his Scotland international team-mates for the Euro 2024 curtain-raiser against host nation Germany in front of a sell-out crowd at the 70,000 capacity Allianz Arena in Munich.

The Scots were handed the glamour draw in the ballot in Hamburg when they were placed in Group A alongside the four-time World Cup winners who have lifted the European trophy on three occasions.

McGregor and Co will also face Hungary, who went undefeated in qualifying and topped Group G, and Switzerland, who took second place in their qualifying section.

As well as the Hoops skipper, full-backs Anthony Ralston and Greg Taylor could get the call to represent their nation while there could be an outside chance manager Steve Clarke could utilise the experience of 38 times-capped James Forrest.

Scotland play Germany on Friday June 14, Switzerland on Wednesday June 19 and Hungary on Sunday June 23. All kick-offs are 8pm.
