Hibernian 0-5 Celtic

677

A five star performance from Celtic extended their lead at the top of the table to an incredible 17 points as Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper dictated the pace and outcome of the game.   Stokes made sure he got on the end of a Charlie Mulgrew corner on 14 minutes to head the opening goal from inside the six yard box.  Six minutes later it was 0-2 when Hooper collected on the halfway line before playing a forward pass to Stokes.  Stokes advanced into the box before slipping the ball to Hooper, who slipped the ball underneath Graham Stack from 10 yards out.

Hibs first genuine attempt arrived midway through the first half when Adam Matthews failed to deal with a long ball and was robbed by Stevenson but Fraser Forster saved.  Wotherspoon then had a good chance 8 yards out when he met a cross from the left but his attempt went wide.

Celtic should have had a penalty when Anthony Stokes again rushed into the box before cutting back and had his ankles clipped but the referee  waved play-on.

Two minutes after the break Charlie Mulgrew removed any remaining doubt about the result.  Gary Hooper was fouled 23 yards from goal and Mulgrew thundered the resulting free kick into the far corner of the net.

Hooper and Stokes linked again when the former back-heeled for the latter but Graham Stack blocked the shot from 12 yards.  Hooper’s second goal of the game arrived seven minutes into the second half when James Forrest passed to Mulgrew who fed Hooper.  The striker’s shot bobbled over the diving Stack into the net.

A careless back-heel by Kelvin Wilson was collected by Gary O’Connor who crossed for Leigh Griffiths but Forster collected comfortably.  The rout was completed when Stokes fed substitute Kris Commons whose wayward shot struck the knee of Ki and deflected into the net.  Joe Ledley almost made it six when he won a header from a Ki corner but his attempt rebounded off the bar.

Isn’y ‘uttering’ a legal term in Scots Law as in ‘to utter false bank notes/false cheques’.

notthebus, in Scotland Uttering forged writings is a crime defined as “using as genuine a fabricated writing falsely intended to pass as genuine the writing of another person”

  7. I once heard Malcolm Tucker (aka Peter Calipaldi from The Thick of it) condemn another Cabinet minister by saying “Christ, your’e too toxic even for the vultures!” Anyone else think the same about the Orcs? I mean, unless they win this major tax case (not entirely impossible btw) Liquidation simply looks inevitiable.

Unless Whyte can flog the assets to a wealthy investor, I mean who would take them on pre-liquidation. I suspect they will be liquidated, but might get a better owener than Whyte and a few years later progress back to the SPL as a competitive force. What is of more importance is what we do in the time that they are weakened; again we need to maintain our current successful scouting and signing policy and look to bank as much Champions League Loot as possible. While the Orcs are so weak does anyone else think we must push through a 16 team league set up? I also think the Scottish Media are petrified of the Orcs vanishing or being in a weakened state, not necessarily due to old fashioned distorted allegiences but they fear less work and jobs in their own profession – self preservation indeed.

  10. So does anyone know what has been uttered at Ibrox? Allegedly?

I know that they usually utter all sorts and that the current team is utter p!sh, but this seems to be a different and allegedly criminal style of uttering.

I am out in Florida playing saaaccer at Uni until early May, so I am dearly missing home and being there for all this partying!

Was great watching it today, last time I was at Easter Road was when we drew 0-0 in Strachan’s second last game. We were so unlucky not to win it and it ultimately cost us the championship.

Its day like today that make me think how good it actually is to be one us right now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s ALWAYS good…but I think this is the best time to be a Celtic supporter since 1967- anyone agree???

I have enjoyed the past week so much. I love looking back and remembering all the hard times we have had in the past few years, and other years.

Getting beat at CP for them to win the league and doing the Huddle in front of us, getting beat at Motherwell on Black Sunday to hand it to them, getting beat up at Inverness to hand it to them, listening to them singing about Lenny, feeling utterly horrible every time they won the league the last 3 years….

It’s days like THOSE ^^^ that make the TODAYS so much sweeter!

  20. Could somebody explain why Ticketus have lent the MBB 24 million with season tickets as security?

If Rangers are liquidated, then these season tickets must be worthless.

If Ticketus also have any Newco locked into the deal, then if they are in Div3, then they’re not going to sell, say 35k tickets, at £500 a go. More like 20k at 300.

Assuming Ticketus aren’t stupid, what do they get out of it other than anxiety that they’ve wasted investors’ cash?

  23. Still think the performance against Hearts was better – best I’ve seen in some time.

What they did carry over was the team ethos. Our young bhoys, Adam, Vic and James were under par today and – it didnae matter. Beginning to think that MOTM is nonsense withthis lot – they are a well-knit team who believe in themselves and each other. It has become a sort of trademark and that impresses me more than individual performances.

How many can we keep and how many are for the off? Most will go, but probably not in the immediate future. They want to win trophies and they are well on the way this season. That offers CL football next season which is also a big attraction. Despite what we think about our best players, how many would get the opportunity to move to anything better than a mid-table EPL club?

They are so young they can enjoy the dream of CL football next season, continue to improve both themselves and their reputations and chase the big bucks later. Even then they will still be faced with the problem which others haven’t solved – how to go from being a valued member of a collective to fitting in somewhere else with different manager, coaches, tactics, demands and aspirations.

If you vote for anyone other than Joe Ledley for POTY I shall return to Scotland and spit in your beer. He could be the first to go, but the last whom we should release.

    Cheers

    Alex

I understand that they will still be entitled to ticket revenues regardess of shape and size of newco 2012. Again Orcs might get a new investor by then to pay off Ticketus or pay down the percentage of the season ticket share.
