  1. Has anyone queried AJ’s knockout. That was a dull yin, If he was a Rugby or rugby League player he would get an automatic 2 week sick leave.

  2. That was £19m , spent well in the summer.

Maybe, 1 or 2 will come good in a year or 2

The windows listed since Mark Lawwell took head of recruitment haven’t hurt us on the pitch just yet because the core of Ange’s first couple of windows are still with us – Hart, CCV, MO’R, Hatate, Kyogo, Maeda & Abada. When these guys do move on, we’re in a spot of bother going by these previous windows.

  3. Good morning all off to see the Grandson playing shortly.

Reading back, some including me are frustrated at the performance/result yesterday as I know we as a squad should be capable of beating a poor Hibs team.

    But in Brendan I trust..until I dont🤣.

A long way to go in the league though so lets stop the bickering and see it my qay😉.

    Hail Hail Bhoys

    Have a good day.

    I know what yer saying.

AJ will be insisting he is available for selection Wednesday, imho.

  5. Our performance in the CL against one of the favourites to win the competition was admirable but draining for the players.

These are the games that reach the parts that domestic football cannot.

However, the league is our bread and butter. We have a very large expensive squad for a reason. And that reason is contingency, intwrchangement and replacement.

We needed to change the starting 11 yesterday and we should have been able to do that without a considerable drop in standard and performance.

That is the aspiration of having such a large squad.

January will be big for us.

    In Brendan we trust.

    HH, the journey continues.

  6. Good morning friends, from a very, very wet and dreary looking EK!

Cheer me up please – even if it’s your 3 least bad players from yesterday. Somebody does have to be the Man Of The Match after all! SENCELPOTY@GMAIL.COM

  8. Interesting game yesterday.

We lacked the intensity in the final third that has been the hallmark of our quality displays this season.

There seemed two reasons for this, the first was obviously the hangover from an intense game on Wednesday. Meada especially looked below par.

The other Palma and Bernardo building up an understanding, they are both good footballers with a lot to offer but have played little with the first team and each other.

Still, they both could have conjured up a winner, as could Mikey, Jamesy or a.n. other.

At the end of the day Hibs are a good team that can hurt you on the break and our defence coped well in that regard.

Hibs held on, our sloppiness, the referee and inexperience all played a part but Hibs deserved the draw.

So, incase we’d forgotten, we are a w.i.p. with a lack of strength and depth in the squad, we move forward and hope those things are rectified in the medium term.

In the meantime the stalwarts had us looking solid enough

  9. !!BADA BING!! @ 9:43 AM,

    Very good question!?

    BIG WAVY @ 10:09 AM,

T’was chatting last night about our lack of creativity at Easter Road and said this time last year we had Juranovic’s crossing ability,

Jota’s skill on tha’ wing, Giakoumakis as a real striking alternative and on form Reo.

Quite a chunk of where our goals came from missing yesterday.

    Hail Hail

  10. Just a wee sidebar re Tilio…

Tonight I went to watch Melb Victory beat Newcastle 5-3 and it was a decent paced game with some decent skills and cracking goals.

Just watched Killie v the Dons; it is the worst kind of lump it long, thud and blunder type of fitba.

And we wonder why we struggle to attract talent to Celtic.

All the more perplexing then, that wee Marco isn’t showing enough to get a run in the side.

  11. Question my learned friends on a day when we needed a proper winger to shine and assist our cause …where was the supposed wonder kid winger we signed from Aus !?…an old Glasgow phrase is beginning to spring to mind …”Pig in a poke “…buyer beware right enough 🤔

  12. Chairbhoy …precisely …possibly Lawwell =downsizing …that old popular board equation 🤔

  13. The Shipwreck will see me jibber jabber my Truth. It isnae that exciting.

    Soupherb Bhoys just Jammi,

    49s soon?

    patience is indeed a virtue.

  14. I am unconvinced by this narrative that all our signings have been crap cos they’re not being played.

Given that we lost only Jota, Starfelt and Mooy, we really didn’t need to sign as many as we did except……

We had a bit of a defensive crisis with CCV and Welsh injured and Scales on the point of transfer to Aberdeen and generally considered not Celtic class. So we bought Lagerbielke- who has a chance of making it and Phillips who is a short term loan as experienced cover and most likely heading back South after Xmas.

We also had a lot of stars subject to transfer interest- Maeda, Kyogo, Hatate, and O’Riley will have attracted interest as well as Jota did. So far, Ange and Spurs have not come for them but, they might be tempted again in January. Would we definitely get a good replacement then, even with big money in our pockets? At a time when Brendan may want to go back in for the goalkeeper, striker and left back options we failed to land this summer. But that’s our position in the food chain and we need to be aware of that. It’s no use saying just keep the players and pay them more, they will still want to test themselves at higher levels. Our bread and butter, the SPFL is not one of those higher levels; it is a shop window.

So what about Lagerbielke? – quite simply he’s dropped down to 4th choice after CCV, Scales and Phillips. Would you bet on him remaining in that position? Remember last year? Which CB played in most of our CL campaign? I’ll give you a clue it was not Starfelt.

So what about Holm?- well short answer is he’s still 20. He’s had a few pitch appearances and a lot of bench action, then he got suspended in a Euro match, then injured and found Paolo Bernardo has usurped his place. Who would make a bet , at this stage of the careers of these 2 young men, which one will make it?.

Every Saturday- you can only play 11 to 16 players. The official site lists 32 players- 3 keepers, 11 defenders, 10 midfielders and 8 attackers. That does not include talented B team players who make an occasional bench. So, on any given match day, more than 50% of your squad will not strip for action. A small proportion may be injured, a few suspended and a few untrusted but those situations change- as Scales has just demonstrated. few of us would expect McCarthy to be such a surprise. It would also shock us if Kwon gets a look in any time soon or that Brendan would trust Bernabei- a fine footballer but a defender far too careless in protecting the ball to fit BR’s philosophy.

But only the most judgemental would write off the likes of Holm or Kobayashi or Iwata from breaking back into the team.

Mind you, we have a lot of them in hte Celtic support.

    Anybody remember…

Maeda (55 apps) being described as a runner not a footballer?

Abada (74 apps) having no ball control?

Taylor (97apps) being a Killie level player?

Forrest (299 apps) being an empty jersey, a coward and invisible in big matches?

Mikey J (51 apps) being a sand dancer despite being valued by ROI supporters?

Yesterday, all of us as amateur punters were expressing strong dogmatic views about how important it was to provide continuity of team selection or , alternatively to rest players who had played too much football. With only one change made and a boring draw resulting, those advocating the change it up approach get to be the vindicated Monday morning quarterbacks this week but I am not reading too many apologies from the group that advocated no unnecessary changes.

In a blog, we get to advocate what we like without any real world consequences. It’s fun and it’s fluff but only the manager has to face reality- unhappy want away players, lazy trainers that remain fan favourites, dressing room disrupters with big egos- all the metric left out of Championship Manager.

We’re never too old to learn lessons. My main take from yesterday is that two of our favourite scapegoats of yesteryear (and today in JF’s case) were among the players who stood up to be counted- Liam Scales and Jamesie Forrest- yon wee coward.

  15. Melvin udall …..if you believe the super duper computa….will generate 3 consecutive away encounters ( Aberdeen -Hearts-Hibs ) in the next round of games for the mighty Sevco then I want some of what you are drinking !!? 🤔🤣

  16. SFTB- Finishing yesterday with,Forrest, Turnbull, Ralston and Johnston, tells me that along with a few more who are making little impact,Brendan needs to overhaul the squad in next 2 Windows

  17. Bada Bing

The starting 11 had 70 plus minutes to score. These guys had 10 to 20 minutes. 2 of those 4 came closer than the guys they replaced.

There will be an overhaul since Brendan favours keeping the ball while Ange allowed more risk but Brendan chose those 4 subs over all the other options he had.

  18. if several of our fringe /projects are deemed not at the level to be 1st team starters how do they get (other than at Lennoxtown ) match fitness and development /appraisal when they are not playing matches on weekly basis in a league set-up or either put them out on loan to other SPL teams or play them,

imo to end up with a front 3 of JF, OH and MJ with DT in midfield with Iwata & Yang sitting on their hands in the dugout beggars believe.

  19. SFTB- If Brendan thinks the squad is too big,and you look at the bench yesterday, we do need a few moved on,although more than happy the way he has got us going at this stage of the season.

  20. Wont join in on the who did what yesterday and how Brendan should have done this or that. Came on to say I watched a little of the Aberdeen v Kilmarnock game. Turn over quickly as both were rubbish, especially Aber. Should beat them soon.

But real reason was to ask if anyone knows who chose that awful black jersey for our third one?. They need to do something about their eyesight or taste.
