I’ve consistently had a go at Lawwell for signing players that a manager doesn’t know or want.
Again, if you are happy with an accountant over ruling a manager on signings then Lawwell is your man.
Due to the worldwide situation at the start of the season the club received no firm transfer fee offers for players who wanted to leave.
We only received a loan offer for Eddie.
Surely you don’t think Lawwell would hold onto a player who would not sign a new deal and was content to run down his contract and leave for buttons?
The reason Toney wasn’t signed was due to not being able to sell Eddie.

Lawwell gave the 5WA the nod. He looked the other way on EBTs before that. He openly lamented the death of the old huns. He has been party to the big 55/ continuation lie (why else charge extra for the huns games)? He’s so out of touch with his ‘consumer base’ it’s laughable. He has left us with a mountain to climb next season. If the huns get the ECL money we’re gubbed for years. If it’s also John Kennedy as manager, they might win 10-in-a-row. If it’s Eddie Howe, that’s brilliant, but he’ll need time/ years.
Those of us living close to Ibrox feel particularly miffed by big Pete’s deliberate rehabilitation of the hun. In Dumbreck today they started arriving at 8am, singing their sectarian songs, parking across our driveway and telling my wife ‘we park where we fucking like’ when she remonstrated with them; and, generally soiling the place all day with their antisocial behaviour.
It didn’t have to be this way. The 5 Way, in fact. It was a choice made by a man with dollar signs in his eyes. Big Celtic man. Aye right.

On the Lawwell vs Rodgers issue. Probably fault on both sides. Big ego pissing contest. Rodgers left us in the lurch.
But dispassionately speaking, an excellent manager is a much more valuable asset to a club than an excellent CEO (not that Lawwell is such). Easier to replace a CEO with an equally competent alternative/ more of them around.
Rodgers has proved again tonight that a top manager is the difference maker at a club.

i always remember on the day of Rodgers unveiling as our manager
there was a media video with Rodgers and Lawwell in it with Lawwell
in the backgorund with face totally tripping him and obviously
Rodgers was stealing his thunder but somewhere along the years
Lawwell managed to get his foot in the door regarding signings etc
The acts of the board this season has softened many peoples
anger towards Rodgers although I will never forgive him for the timing
of his exit which in my opinion was his main sin

Look up what decides a share price. Very few Celtic shares ever get traded so our share price isn’t really representative of our financial health. I can’t say for sure but I think our share price was at its highest in the middle of last season. That didn’t happen

To be fair, Rodgers at least got us to CL twice.
Lawwell never had signings in on time for the most important match of the season.

I’m not sure property is paying off at the minute (I base that on one of our previously generous trustees having to cease donations as it was all tied in with property ) certainly for both equity and property it’s the long game that pays off
