  1. Compare and contrast …

London — one zoomer with a megaphone and some hingers oan shouting the odds about a growing humanitarian tragedy in Palestine in an allegedly uncultured and accusatory manner.

Allegations of anti-Semitic stuff being shouted by the shouty bloke.

The media and politicians are all over it like a rash based on some long range phone video.

Glasgow — large / mixed — players and hingers oan — indoor grouping enjoying some indoor hospitality and some indoor alcohol. Singing sorry shouting some anti Catholic dirges in some very high quality phone video.

I wonder what the response of the Scottish media will be?

Have they actually said anything about this incident at all?

  2. not the labour party and most definitely nowhere near a socialist

I think there a couple of videos doing the rounds.

Might be an hour in between then.

The first one is fairly subdued — just the usual anti-papal party tunes.

The second one is two shandies later — dancing on the tables and the abuse was now racial as well as sectarian.

Interesting that RK — our own beloved banjo boy — seemed overwhelmed by the whole event.

He might be a more sensitive and mature individual than we give him credit for.

I think they are attracting a rougher sort than 20 years ago when the first eleven were never out the “pineapple” by all accounts.

Typical night out in rural Ayrshire ?!?

Madmitch 10.29 – yeah, I had a wry smile on my face when I saw how this single incident was deemed headline news in England. I wondered how many similar incidents of an anti-Irish/anti-catholic theme took place across Scotland on Saturday?

  10. Huns have issued a statement.

The say this is their 55th league title in their 150th year of existence.

Well done to the Celtic Board for enabling this.

    You must be very proud.

  11. Have not posted in a long while. In so much as I want our new manager in place, I am willing to wait more than ever this week after the carnage on Saturday. That’s what the media want, to take the heat off the bigots. Momentum needs to be maintained, this cannot be ignored. I don’t live in Glasgow but if I did I would be contacting my local MP who you recently voted in to ask what are they doing about Saturday. We have been here numerous times before, in a couple of days it will die down and we will be back to square one. Rangers FC and their supporters are a cancer in society with their bigoted and sectarian views and lets not kid ourselves when we hear this is a minority. We all knew Saturday was going to happen, when the question was put to Rangers FC they could have stated from the top that the get together in Georges Square should not take place. When the question was put to Gerrard in his press conference last week he was shut down by the DUP PR clown they have in place. This comes from the top to the zombies smashing each other up on Saturday. The news black out has been astonishing but cannot say surprising, the cover up is now in full swing. Disgusting.

  12. I have Emailed The First Ministers Office this morning about…

The Hun hordes on Saturday, and also asking WHY ” The Police didnt conduct House Arrests on the Ring Leaders of the Union Bears when they were organising matters via social Media etc, and INCITING others to Break Covid Rules days BEFORE Saturdays events ?

I also asked what is her office going to do with Sevco FC Staff and THEMS clearly drinking INSIDE Ipox on Saturday and Breaking Covid Rules. I reminded wee Nicky about how her office was so quick to Punish Celtic after Dubai etc.

I also asked about the Anti Catholic/RACIST behaviour of their fans, and the Orange Walkies etc etc ?

I got an email back and I was allocated a Ref Number.

At the time of emailing, I was unaware of Hun players singing and shouting anything.

Surely the point about anti Irish Catholic bigotry/racism in Scotland is that it is not a party issue, it’s a cultural issue?

So not only will it still be there if Scotland ever leaves the UK, but it will be louder and more powerful because it will be reverberating in a smaller space.

As always you highlight your own issues / failings / baggage by your very narrow focus no matter the societal carnage that is going on all around you and is available for comment or discussion.

You seem to be a nation / party of 1 — not a great place to be for someone who attempts to offer political comment on a regular basis but who all too often descends into low rent / Forger’s Gazette anti-Labour moon howling.

They may be related — you are so pure that only your thoughts will do.

Not a big surprise though — today’s Trots are just ego-tripping / attention seeking tankies.

I’ll put my money on Socialist Vanguard / Glesga Branch / Membership of one man and a dog.

  20. This small minority part always makes me laugh. Less than half … 49% of many thousands is not a small number.

Just reading about the paramedics being assaulted and spat upon as the attended the injured huns all because of their green uniforms.

Your point is only valid if it can be shown the wider space had a positive effect in deterring/addressing the problem.

    Basically you are projecting.

You will be a long time waiting for K Starmer or B Johnson making a statement condemning Hun behaviour in Glasgow.

  23. On Rangers fans

“On the Rangers terracing on Saturday there was congregated a gang, thousands strong, including the dregs and scourings of filthy slumdom, unwashed yahoos, jailbirds nighthawks, won’t works, burro-barnacles and pavement pirates, all, or nearly all, in the scarecrow stage of verminous trampdom. This ragged army of insanitary pests was lavishly provided with orange and blue remnants…. Practically without cessation, the vagabond scum kept up a strident howl of the “Boyne Water” chorus. Nothing so bestially ignorant has ever been witnessed, even in the wildest exhibitions of Glasgow Orange bigotry……”

The reporter went on to describe the assembled throng of Celtic fans.

“These complaints do not apply to the Celtic brake-clubs (supporters’ clubs) whose members, reasonable sentient human beings, are models of decorum and possess official testimonials to their blameless behaviour…..They are fond of singing, and to this no-one can reasonably object. On Saturday, the boys sang to their heart’s content. They gave us so many rousing choruses. “Hail Glorious St. Patrick”, “God Save Ireland”, “Slievenamon” “The Soldier’s Song”…. When Cassidy’s goal made victory sure, it was fine to hear the massed thousands at the western end of the Ibrox oval chanting thunderously “On Erin’s Green Valleys’..”

‘Man in the Know’ from the 1920’s Glasgow Observer in one of his reports relating to an Old Firm game in 1924

  24. ………and while all that vile, sectarian, racist, drunken, loutish , destructive, behaviour was taking place in and around the city centre, all Gerrard’s players could do was indulge in FTP chanting. A very positive contribution , Stevie , and I trust you are proud. You are up here three years now so naievity is no defence – you know exactly what goes where in Glasgow. Aligning himself with the worst elements of their support will be to Gerrard’s longer term detriment.
