In pretty much every game, the same thing is happening.
We start brightly.
Score.
Other team comes into it.
We start fannyig about and making mistakes.
Other team scores.
Our subs rescue the game.
Most are relieved and say it is the 3pts that matter. At least some of us arecwondering why we look poorly coached while only having one game a week? Why players who are contributing little keep getting picked and an injured and out of sorts Calmac is allowed to play every minute? Nygren’s one redeeming quality was scoring goals but that streak ended some time ago. His free kicks are woeful yet week in week out he starts.
These are things we can all see and agree upon, or not as the case may be. But for me MoN could make things easier for us if he would be a bit more flexible in the personnel and tactics he uses.
Please God the league isn’t decided on goal difference because if it is, I believe we’ll look back at these litany of games where we simply go into hibernation mode after getting in front and we will rue our complete lack of urgency. It’s like we’re trying to see just how little effort we can exert in order to get three points.

Nygren had a great scoring streak in January culminating in a goal on Jan 25 against Hearts. Since then he has scored twice in the league, against Hibs on Feb 22nd and against Aberdeen on 4th March, two months ago.
Anyone make a good case for him for being picked every game when our midfield is being out muscled most games and Calmac can’t dictate games like he used to. Reo must have really upset MoN to be ignored these past few weeks.
Love Arne, he adds energy and workrate to our midfield
Seb not so much, he cuts inside too much (teams now double up on him to stop the goals from that) and offers little defensively
When he is good, he is great – but isn’t good often enough
___________________________________
CLUINKS – I’m more with SPIKEY on the Seb question and I see a player who could offer more. That said, you are correct that they double up on him and neutralize his danger when trying to cut inside. Hate to say it, but a better coached team would use that to their advantage – Tierney rarely gets played in on the overlap. Why?
……………………
I read somewhere that Tierney doesn’t trust going past Tounekti on the overlap because if Seb loses the ball he doesn’t work hard enough to get back and leaves Tierney stranded with a lot f ground to cover to get himself back into defence. When Daizen’s on the left Tierney will overlap because he trusts Daizen to do the recovery work.

Well, Nygren certainly seems like an underrated player in many ways but he really is a head scrather…
Surely top coaches can instil a bit of aggression and physicality and teach him a bit of compsure and to pass to a green shirt…
Although he managed the latter with aplomb yesterday.
Thought we played well and are making progess though, as the better players get match fit for the run in, my confidence increases.
Looks like Collum has his work cut out in reigning in his not so neutral renegade refs.
The Hibs goal should’ve been disallowed, Celtic should’ve had a penalty & a 0-3 win, if we converted it.
Is their fantasy to manufacture a last day goal difference league win for the Full Fats or the Diets?
Anyone But Celtic eh, as simple as ABC.
Someone authoritative needs to ask WTAF is going on here.

I think the 2 traits you mention are classic Martin traits.
For now we just need to take the good and the not so good and make the most of it.
He has dug is out of a real mess this season. So some good. We are still in the running.
I guess he sees the thing through a better focused lens than us.
Goal difference cost us in 02/03. I recall screaming about it v Motherwell away when 4-0 up and Dundee at CP losing a late one.
Inflexibility re tactics allowed a poor Mcleish team from rangers to get the better of us a few times.
I think we have to have faith that he is trying to make a solo purse of scant resources.
Also factoring the poor officiating into the equation. A 4-0 or so was on the cards yesterday without the MIB and friends. That could only be decisive though if we need a 2 or 3-0 final day v Hertz. We won’t beat the Huns on GD I doubt.

Worth highlighting the significant jump in pressure and intensity from Danish equivalent of Dundee Utd to Celtic.
I don’t mean necessarily level of football in that league but external pressure and chaotic background.
It feels inevitable that with a lack of consistent coaching and mentorship this season his journey might be bumpy.
Lots still to learn and a great base to build on imo. He needs the right coach next imo.
Should the Huns win against the Minis, then a draw next week and two wins makes us champions. I prefer them odds rather than needing three wins

Thanks for posting that. That is a highly possible scenario. I’ll be upset if we don’t beat the Huns but not disconsolate because it won’t be fatal in those circumstances.

B78 – agree with your tactical flexibility observation.
Martin’s managerial forte is leadership and culture.
Always has been.
Tounetki – Tierney is interesting.
I thought I saw two instances first half yesterday when Kieran had a very obvious pass to Seb and didn’t take it.
Could be wrong.
I do not doubt Seb’s talent but someone needs to give him a good shake.
The settling in period is over.
If he ups his aggression in the last four games it could make all the difference.

No reason it cannot be revisited but better led by CST to get 100 sigs.
