Hibs are above Celtic for good reason

419

The next 19 days sees Celtic in action against Hearts twice, Leipzig twice, Hibs (tomorrow) and Dundee, the latter the only prosaic occasion among them.  How we negotiate this period will go a long way to determine our domestic and European season.

Brendan will almost certainly rest Tom Rogic after his midweek trip to Kuwait but with five days until we face Leipzig, I expect a full strength team for the visit of Neil Lennon’s side.

Hibs are above us in the league for a reason, they have lost only twice this season (once domestically and once in Europe) and have the best goal difference in the league.  They did very well home and away against us last season and Neil will ensure his team have no concerns about visiting Celtic Park this term.

The players know the scale of the challenge ahead, which should bring the best out of them.  A sneaky feeling we might end the weekend top of the league too.

    MacJay,

Just refreshed the thing to post about punks…and true punks…and up popped your post.

Sorry, but I am on the other side to your argument.

When things go theological in the Christian religion…and sectarian…I have grown to think: What would Jesus think? / Say?

    =================================================================

Or perhaps : What did Christ DO or rather not do ?

I have every respect for differing viewpoints in relation to Catholicism.

When the introduction of the use of the English language at the Mass was the issue , my argument was that this would make us just like Protestant religions.

And what`s wrong with that was the reply of the priest .

    He was right.

I’m very sensitive when it comes to my heroes, and i was alarmed

at the amount of abuse a legend was taking on CQN for a comment

which was taken out of context by the vile MSM.

And it was the “Silly old ” which got to me, however you are a good

I said to my oldest bhoy earlier this evening, there’s no excitement like it, the night before Celtic play

He shook his head as though to say “what a mad mother I have”.

    Where have I gone wrong?!!!!!!

Hope all is good with you and yours, Mick.

Are we talking about the Christian religion or do you mean other religions?

Macjay, I love your concern for the church, I might have agreed with in the past.

but do you not think God Himself moves on?

    ================================================================

    I`m afraid I don`t.

The Christian religions are under threat . Particularly Catholicism.

I was astonished to see , on a visit to Scotstoun a few years ago , that three Protestant Churches in the area had closed.

Radical change in Christian beliefs and practices are , I`m sure , for many people extremely discomfiting.

The practices of the Catholic Church should not , imho , be determined by the fashions of the day.

The priesthood is not a job. It`s a vocation .

A dedication of one`s life to Christ . Not to one`s wife and family and Christ.

A married Priest would , of course , require a salary.

The priesthood would then become a job.

    Not a vocation.

    Now. Back to my vocation.

    Glasgow Celtic.

  17. When the mass changed over from the Latin Rite to the vernacular it was traumatic for a lot of old folk. They were used to saying the rosary or other devotions during the Mass. Which was wrong but they didn’t realise it.

As an altar boy I used to say the responses on behalf of the congregation and we took it seriously. In Latin. It was difficult and beautiful at the same time. There was no time for showing off. You had to concentrate all the way through. It was very busy. We were usually a bit nervous to get it right.

The only reason I am telling you this is because my best friend, The Sacred Heart, have agreed a deal that I only spend one afternoon in purgatory if I tell you about wonderfull he is.

I’ve been busy with other things tonight and I’m now playing catch-up. Thanks to everyone who responded to my post about Jamesgang and his Dad. Makes me proud to be a Celtic supporter. Back in 1982, when we were slugging it out with Fergie’s Dons, I sat in the main stand and got to know the fans who sat around me. We enjoyed the craic with each other at games. One of those fans was a minister who was great company. This was the time leading up to Pope John Paul coming to Bellahouston and the Jungle would belt out “ Oh the Pope’s coming over ….” every home game. We were struggling in a crucial match against Aberdeen and the Jungle started singing the song. An old guy sitting behind me shouted out, “I hope he brings his effin boots with him” and everybody collapsed with laughter. The minister laughed so hard I thought he was going to have a seizure. Great times – but we eventually lost 3-1.
