The Scottish Cup quarter-finals get underway tonight as Hearts and Dundee get the chance to become the first side into the semis. Tomorrow, Queen’s Park visit Aberdeen while Livingston are home to St Johnstone on Monday evening.
Having watched Queen’s Park crumble against Scott Brown’s Ayr United on Tuesday, I don’t expect the lower league side to remain in the competition after their visit to Pittodrie. Fellow Championship club Livingston will fancy their chances against St Johnstone. Livi are still in contention for the title but will comfortably finish in the promotion play-off places. They could yet have a more important couple of games against the Perth side this season.
You and I have a great cup tie to look forward to on Sunday. Sure Celtic Park will be covered in banners of green, as so many people leave Edinburgh for a sporting event you would think the rugby was on. Try, though the club often has, to forget it, Hibernian have a different heritage to much of Edinburgh, indeed, for their first 45 years of their existence, Leith was a town in its own right.
Hibs performances have earned them the right to feel the hand of history upon their shoulder with respect to this season’s Cup. The last time they won a Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park was 1902. Unusually, this was the final and was against Celtic. It was also the last time they won the Cup until current manager and then captain, David Gray scored the winner in the 2016 final.
When their team is on an historically good run, football fans believe in destiny. The 7,000 in the away end on Sunday are there to inspire an historic performance out of their team. You and I have a part to play in making sure that doesn’t happen.
Well done to our Coefficient Monkeys last night. I have lost count of all the Champions League money they have earned us in recent seasons. They truly are the most generous collection of ‘turn it on when it suits us’ merchants in the business.

Top of the class Clunks 👏👏 Brilliant song, brilliant band. Saw them many times, many times.
Much of it makes you feel old: “secretaries turn off typewriters” , “telephone exchanges click while there’s nobody there” etc.
However, one line’s still relevant: ……and American businessmen snap up the huns for a price of a packet of crisps 😂😂
…….and they’ll all be deluded tonight and deluded tomorrow.
GM

I genuinely wonder what Putin has on Trump
I used to think it was sexual but no longer believe that.
Trump’s previous suggests perceptions about his sexual behaviour don’t bother him.
I can only surmise, without any evidence, it is something criminal.
“I can only surmise, without any evidence, it is something criminal’ .
Sounds like Alan Muir logic to me.
Junior chasing egg shaped balls tomorrow morning so off to bed.
Sleep well all👍
The Thursday night trophy belongs in Govan .. well apart from the St Mirren fan pointing out Boxing Day was a Thursday …
Cue the the Huns … but it wasn’t at night !!!!!
Glasgow will be green and white this weekend

“The San Francisco 49ers are owned by the York family, who are high-profile Catholic philanthropists. The York Catholic Fund supports educational initiatives and improves accessibility for students. ”
That tickles my pickle.
Our revenge will be the education of your children lol
As I pointed out earlier…FSR…means there will b no investment of the Huns…mibbe a leveraged buyout…meaning the supporters will be paying to see their worst dreams reality
My opinion…49rs will look under the bonnet….and find nothing worth buying ;-))
In america and bonnet is called a hood
So here is a song for that

Good morning to all FENIAN’S across the globe.
1 week to St Patrick’s day, did I hear or read somewhere that Glasgow are planning one this year?
Anyway back to footy, a win mañana and a treble yell is 2 games away, another great achievement if….eh we achieve it.
A good time was spent yesterday with the shipbank shipwrecks.
True Gents one and all.
D. :)
To date nearly 58,000 tickets have been sold for Sunday. Expectedly should be a complete sell out.
Should be a brilliant atmosphere
HH.
David 66,
Glad you are obviously feeling better and enjoyed your day yesterday.
Need some tips off you for losing weight. 😀
Yeah Glasgow is moving into the 21st Century with planned St Patrick’s events.
Tontine Tim should be able to give us a real good story or two about St Patrick.
Both were Old Kilpatrick bhoys.
HH.
Good morning all from Govanhill. It’s Saturday, it’s time to have some fun. 🍻

saw Mickey 17 last night – it’s bonkers
_____
Good bonkers or shite bonkers? Plan to see it.
Scotland v Wales today
Celtic v Hibs tomorrow
A nice sporting weekend for sure.
It’s anyone but England for me for the 6 Nations.
Hopefully Ireland or France win with bonus points all round in the big game.
At least wee Finn Russell married an OA.
B78- I’m sure we beat St Mirren 2-1,Doyle scored both,I think Frank McDougall got a broken ankle after Danny tackled him, might have been a red card in the game,Love St was absolutely packed,27,000 was given
Watching the build up to Forest v Man City, and seeing the various activities around the stadium footprint, and we have nothing,we need to put much more pressure on Glasgow City Council, would be a good revenue stream, and a few jobs as well.
enjoyed it ziggydoc – glad I saw it in the cinema – not sure I would have stuck it out on the telly

What a mess.
Money, lawyers, politicians, states.
Genuine question – in just how many countries does Roman Abramovich hold citizenship ?
I thought he was Russian and Israeli.
Didn’t know about him also being Portuguese.
Complex weave with deception at the heart of it for sure.
historical footnoe –
hibernian born in the cowgate and easter road is in edinburgh.
Hibernian FC (Hibs) had played at a variety of grounds from their formation in 1875 until moving to Hibernian Park. Initially they played on the Meadows, along with all the other nascent Edinburgh clubs. They subsequently moved to grounds in Newington and Powderhall, but neither of these were used for more than a year at a time. Having lost the lease on the Newington ground in 1879, the opportunity to acquire a site off Easter Road was too good to miss because it was equidistant between Hibs’ two main sources of supporters – the Little Ireland community of the Cowgate, and the Roman Catholic population of the port of Leith[2] (Hibernian Park was situated a short distance inside the Edinburgh city boundary when Leith was a separate burgh, whereas Easter Road Stadium is located just inside Leith).[3]
Hibernian Park was known by the Hibs supporters as The Holy Ground,[4] in reference to the fact that the club was operated by St. Patrick’s Church in the Cowgate.[5][6][7] Hibs were essentially a sporting arm of the Catholic Church in Edinburgh from their formation until 1891.[4] Hibs supporters still use this moniker for the present Easter Road stadium.[4][8]
Luke Littler hit a 9 darter the other night, and the footage shows loads of the crowd launching pints all over the place to ‘celebrate’.
make no mistake, this is exactly what will happen if booze is ever allowed to be brought up to the seats at football grounds in scotland.
i meant easter road is just inside leith
i make that 5 tv commentaries mccoist has done this week.

He’s on way too much for a guy whose level of insightfulness is limited. Co-commentators like him have only a certain lifespan then people, almost as one, get sick to the back teeth of hearing the same voice.
The secret is to vary your co-commentators (as Sky do). Yes, Neville is their principal guy but they use several others.
