The Scottish Cup quarter-finals get underway tonight as Hearts and Dundee get the chance to become the first side into the semis. Tomorrow, Queen’s Park visit Aberdeen while Livingston are home to St Johnstone on Monday evening.
Having watched Queen’s Park crumble against Scott Brown’s Ayr United on Tuesday, I don’t expect the lower league side to remain in the competition after their visit to Pittodrie. Fellow Championship club Livingston will fancy their chances against St Johnstone. Livi are still in contention for the title but will comfortably finish in the promotion play-off places. They could yet have a more important couple of games against the Perth side this season.
You and I have a great cup tie to look forward to on Sunday. Sure Celtic Park will be covered in banners of green, as so many people leave Edinburgh for a sporting event you would think the rugby was on. Try, though the club often has, to forget it, Hibernian have a different heritage to much of Edinburgh, indeed, for their first 45 years of their existence, Leith was a town in its own right.
Hibs performances have earned them the right to feel the hand of history upon their shoulder with respect to this season’s Cup. The last time they won a Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park was 1902. Unusually, this was the final and was against Celtic. It was also the last time they won the Cup until current manager and then captain, David Gray scored the winner in the 2016 final.
When their team is on an historically good run, football fans believe in destiny. The 7,000 in the away end on Sunday are there to inspire an historic performance out of their team. You and I have a part to play in making sure that doesn’t happen.
Well done to our Coefficient Monkeys last night. I have lost count of all the Champions League money they have earned us in recent seasons. They truly are the most generous collection of ‘turn it on when it suits us’ merchants in the business.

Maestro.
Thanks for posting the clip. Never knew there was a parade today. Hopefully it grows year on year. Be great to see thousands walking through the centre of Glasgow celebrating our heritage.

Good afternoon all from the Queens Park Cafe. Great day at the Shipbank yesterday apart from several attendees hiding my beer. That is beyond the pale🤨
SUNDAY 8TH
In a few hours time I shall be twenty-seven grand years of age. Paradoxically it will be a happy enough birthday; perhaps that’s because I am free in spirit. I can offer no other reason.
I was at Mass today, and saw all the lads minus their beards, etc. An American priest said Mass and I went to Communion. One of the lads collapsed before Mass, but he’s all right now. Another was taken out to Musgrave military hospital. These are regular occurrences.
I am 60.8 kgs today, and have no medical complaints.
I received another note from my sister Bernie and her boyfriend. It does my heart good to hear from her. I got the Irish News today, which carried some adverts in support of the hunger-strike.
There is a stand-by doctor who examined me at the weekend, a young man whose name I did not know up until now. Little friendly Dr Ross has been the doctor. He was also the doctor during the last hunger-strike.
Dr Emerson is, they say, down with the ‘flu… Dr Ross, although friendly, is in my opinion also an examiner of people’s minds. Which reminds me, they haven’t asked me to see a psychiatrist yet. No doubt they will yet, but I won’t see him for I am mentally stable, probably more so than he.
I read some wild-life articles in various papers, which indeed brought back memories of the once-upon-a-time budding ornithologist! It was a bright pleasant afternoon today and it is a calm evening. It is surprising what even the confined eyes and ears can discover.
I am awaiting the lark, for spring is all but upon us. How I listened to that lark when I was in H-5, and watched a pair of chaffinches which arrived in February. Now lying on what indeed is my death bed, I still listen even to the black crows.
Thanks AIPPLE for your contribution and Bobby Sands diaries

That’s the way to referee a match rugby. let’s hear what the ref is saying , And var too . That Muir has history against us ,he wanted that goal disallowed . If collum and the rest want our game cleaned up could this be the way to go .

What a difference between rugby refs and Scottish football refs…
helluva half ahead , we’re no out of it
Re rugby
And the co commentators in rugby as opposed to football. Watching on RTÉ and Hugh Jackman and Dónal Lenehanan both insightful and explaining plays and rules and rugby is a much more complex game than football when it comes to rules
4 – 1 to the dons as paul67 predicted
discipline is costing Ireland the grand slam – very unusual
Dearie me. Scrum aside, Ireland have been second best all over the pitch.
MATCH SOLD OUT
France Marchons….
Congrats to the organisers of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Glasgow today.
Picked a fine day for it too.
Wonder if there was a trick missed though.
I know many complain about 5.30pm kick-offs, I’m not one of them, but a Celtic – Hibernian cup tie later this afternoon would surely only have added to the occasion.
Not to worry though, if Bourne is right, tomorrow’s game is sold out.
A great tribute to both clubs at this point, but to Celtic FC in particular
How drunk did I get yesterday?
I may or may not hav bored Carpe Diem about Aristotle’s Heirachy of Government…but I sure as hell bored myself….that’s what happens sometimes 😂
H.H.
Well done Aberdeen. You deserve praise not just for today’s result, but for having the balls to sign a Palestinian player when you consider who Appeasement FC [ Cellik ] have signed from that region?! ffs!
And also Aberdeen FC for having a pair of steel balls to sign a 1st team player with the Fenian name of “KEVIN” even the so called Rangers bigots have signed a player called “KEVIN” might be more than one?!
Pretentious Virtue Signallers just stand for nothing but they fall for everything, especially if the Fake Media tells them its true.
Timdom really needs to waken up about this whining grifter. He just bought a bank in France for £1.2 BILLION ffs!

Who is surprised that the scumbag politicians all back this little zio professional actor front man Zelenski? Scum traitor politicians like, Snp, Gre, Lab, Lib, Con, Ref, EU, Ire, Can, NZ, Australia, USA before President Trump the Peacemaker was allowed to watch the votes being counted in the American 2024 Election.
The only UK political party, WPB, who stood strong against all of the grifting zio controlled scumbaggery, was the only political party in UK who were banned from watching the votes being counted as every other party was allowed to in an election which the WPB had just stood in?!
Not allowed to observe the vote counting. Not allowed to participate in any media debates pre election.
And not a single one of these so called democratic parties uttered a single word of solidarity, all the while in the background 100,000+ Palestinians were being Genocided live on the internet, and not a single word was uttered about this Genocide by any of these controlled by zio Lobby parties during 20+ hors of live TV debates?!
Shame on any gullible galoot who votes for these parties who all obviously have back door zio infiltration. Scumbags!!!
Maybe the only political party who had dozens of folk from, Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, etc, all standing for them to be elected, would have spoken on zio controlled Western Fake News channels, about on the ground reality compared to the xenophobiacly censored Fake News piss that you are all told about, only from the WPB will such truth be not just allowed, but demanded at all times.
This Fake News Ultra zio chancer got his clock cleaned in an exhibition of, the best way to deal with the Fake News sleekitry always! lol
https://youtu.be/J7p7CAyxHgg
Even the foreign media couldn’t believe that someone would show such ballsy uppittv Rebelliousness when in conflict with the evil Fake News liars!
https://youtu.be/kfLdAIOUTyQ?si=jjC-EzqIWnD1hk7-
Fronting up is the only way to deal with these creatures!
PS, Protesting against President Trump who has stopped the Palestinian Genocide, for the most part is just empty headedness.
Deary me.
