HIBS REJECT THIRD McGINN BID

HIBS have booted out a third Celtic bid for midfielder John McGinn.

The Hoops have had two previous offers – believed to be £1.5million and £1.75million – knocked back for the 23-year-old Scotland international.

It is believed the champions upped the cash to £2million for the player who is out of contract in a year’s time and can walk out of Easter Road for nothing.

However, that has not been enough to persuade Hibs chiefs to allow their hottest property to make the switch to Parkhead.

So far the champions have made cash offers for the player, but Neil Lennon could be tempted if Brendan Rodgers included fringe players Ryan Christie or Scott Allan as part of the deal.

McGinn scored on his return in Thursday’s remarkable 6-4 win over NSI Runavik in the Europa League first qualifying round in the Faroes.

That European appearance made him ineligible for the Hoops’ Champions League qualifying campaign – if a deal can be struck at the FOURTH time of asking.

After the tie last week, Lennon insisted: “He’s very much a Hibs player. That may change in the next week with a club or any other club that may come in for him.”
