Highland trips shadow final Champions League round

501

This time next week Celtic will have played two competitive games, both at home, and we will have a chance to properly assess preseason preparations.  Even if victories are achieved against HJK Helsinki and Aberdeen the challenges for the remainder of the month, with at least four and possibly five games away from Celtic Park, with the possibility of only one home game, in the final Champions League qualifying round, will ensure Celtic are tested to their limit.

Two trips to the Highlands ahead of the Champions League qualifiers would be an unwelcome distraction.  Maybe an occasion for the youth and fringe players.

Let me know if you want to advertise in the forthcoming issue of CQN Magazine, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

I watched a pre season game in the Drop Inn last year it is well over from the old town. Probably about 15/20 minute walk from the old town. Not a great pub but they showed the game for me.

  5. Is Charles Green serious? There is so much wrong with his statement. From not understanding why business considerations didn’t win out in terms of being allowed into the SPL (believe it or not ‘sporting integrity’ is actually more important than money to some people!) to actually saying bigotry was behind the decision.

Bigotry is such a loaded word in Scotland, cannot believe even an oaf like him thought it’d be acceptable to say that we (Celtic plc) were simply being bigoted, or pandering to bigots, in voting to reject them.

  13. Last sentence had me peeing mysel!

“I thought at times in the game it was a really good performance, we shouldn’t forget that is only our first competitive game. “We’ve had a couple of bounce games but that is all and for it to go to extra

time and for us to progress is pleasing. “I don’t think anyone can say we didn’t deserve to win the game but with it

going to extra time it certainly put our boys’ fitness levels to the test. “But the most important thing, and it’s the same for every cup tie, is that we went through.”

Yup in 5 different comps. Today was the furthest he went thanks to an honest mistake. Standside linesman was about 6 inches away from the hoarded ..no way was he raising his flag. Charles Green wont hand him a penny.

His record is one win in eight …just the man I want in charge of thems

  17. That team is only going to get weaker. No way in Hell they are paying Goian, etc on Third Division income.

Two days for Green to raise his £30 Million or Brown is proven right.

  18. Ok I’m trying to watch ping pong, handball, swimming, and fitba all at the same time and as such missed final score in the s.korea game did it finish 2-1? And at the mo Honduras Are giving Spain the fright of their lives on channel 461 on sky

I have recorded the bhuns game to watch later after the Moto GP from Laguna Seca tonite ( bit of comic relief dontcha know) before the red sox Yankees game at 1am

Can you guess I ain’t working tomorrow lol

  19. 7 internationals and a handful of a a former SPL team’s players out there today for SEVCO. We must be talking something in the rejoin of 150k a week in wages for the startiing 11 alone. Think Brechin are anywhere near that?

Wonder how big a share of the gate money they got?

  20. KFC

£150 k….that’s probably Brechin’s playing budget for the entire team

    Try Keane’s pub.

If you like a wee punt,The Brian Boru on the main strip is great, cheap drink during the day,all the racing. It’s next door to a wee hun pub though, but no hassle.

The Auld Triangle in the old town should have the game on,but the price of drink is a wee bit steep,a nice big pub it is.

Failing those places, one bar that will def show the Celtic game is the Irish Viking.Just walk along the main strip, and it’s up a wee hill on the left.

The best place for food is a wee Mexican restaurant in the old town called Emma’s Cantina, the grub is amazing, you would need to go early though,as it is always packed and they don’t do reservations.Another great spot is TJ’s Caribbean Tapas bar, just a wee bit down from Emma’s,very reasonable too.The curried goat is delicious.

Enjoy your holiday in Lanzarote, love that place.

  24. At Disneyland Paris on holiday, walking down Disney village and on the big screen was football, Portland Timbers vs someone else! Anyway I was looking for Kenny Misser as not sure who he played for, couldn’t see him as at the time Timbers were on the attack.

The ball was crossed in, parried by the keeper, right into the path of the fat Timber No.9, three yards out of with an open goal.

The striker swung, fresh air kicked and with the other foot put it wide! At that moment I laughed, but not as much as when I realised it was non other than Kris Boyd!!!!

    Better than Larsson hey…..
