Queen’s Park, Rangers (twice) and Aberdeen have all won the Scottish Cup three consecutive seasons, a feat Celtic emulated in last year’s final, coming from behind to beat Hearts 2-1.
Queen’s Park lifted the trophy 10 times in total but five of those wins came in seven seasons, between 1879-80 and 1885-86. Defeat to eventual winners Dumbarton in the 1883 quarter final was their only reversal in the competition in five years.
Rangers completed their first hat trick in the Cup between seasons 1933-34 and 1935-36. That run came to an end when Celtic won the Cup in 1937 in the final against Aberdeen, famous for being the highest attended game in European club football ever, 147,365 souls.
Again Rangers won the Cup three times, between seasons 1961-62 and 1963-64, and again Celtic picked up the trophy to end the run in 1965, in what is probably a more famous final against Dunfermline. THAT header from Billy McNeill and two from Bertie Auld won the Cup for Celtic after seven years without a trophy and gave an indication into what was in store for the Jock Stein era that started two months earlier.
During the early 80s Aberdeen came to Glasgow and regularly bossed the occasion. They won three successive Scottish Cups, two against Rangers in 1983 and 1984, and one against 10-man Celtic (Gordon, cough) in 1984, before another famous Scottish Cup Final and another Celtic win.
This time, the 100th final. Dundee United took the lead, before that “piece of history” from Davie Provan and Frank McGarvey’s flying header. Thousands of us got in for free as police opened the gates in what, incredibly, was a non-ticket game, a practice that ended in disaster four years later at Hillsborough.
Celtic are the first team to win three and then reach a fourth Scottish Cup Final, chasing their 40th success in the tournament. Opponents, Hearts, hope to win their eighth Scottish Cup. History calls for both teams, but the rule is clear, since the 19th century, Celtic win the Scottish Cup after any team wins for three successive seasons. Any portent in a storm.

Penalty to huns on the way….get yet dough on it.
Penalty against the Huns, who is the ref?
First this season against Der Hun. Must have been more than a stonewaller.
Cheers GEEBEE1978
What might have been a couple years ago for Celtic & Paddy Roberts.
Somebody thought Marian Shved was the solution for right side MF.
The Cynic analysed back Shved video’s last year for his appearances in Ukraine where Celtic would have scouted him prior to signing. Pretty sure they concluded there was no basis for Celtic to have signed him.
Mourinho got his mojo back? Still rather watch a Bielsa side mind you.
Not overly impressed with Sevco today. Lots of the ball and slick build-up but lack a bit of cutting edge. Looked more like the Sevco of last season. St Mirren worth their equaliser after a clumsy foul gave them a penalty.
Disaster for Sevco pre- match as Andrew Dallas pulled up during the warm up. Replaced by 4th official Dickinson….who awards Saints a penalty.
HT 1-1
Will Sevco have a solution to this unexpected handicap.

Exactly. James Forrest made the point in his post earlier – Roberts and Forster backed themselves and thought they could do better elsewhere. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn’t.
They’d have been better off for us but they were entitled to aim for the stars. I think we should move on.
That referee’s first and last Sevco game…
GGH- VG
Forster has left us twice for what he thought was a better option. I wouldn’t give a third opportunity to knock us back.
Popped over to hesgoal for Huns HT analysis, no way Dallas would have gave that penalty. Off to Liverpool game
Penalty for St Mirren?… Ref finished.
Heart’s only chances on Sunday are Gordon playing a blinder ( although he made some great saves for us, he never played a blinder for us and never won us a cup or even a game on his own) or we go down to 10 men.
That’s why NL will go with Brown on Sunday…. Just t experience.

Hi Bhoys
More comments on the bad refeering re the ugly ducklings forearm smash than the 2 penalties we were NOT awarded (again) against the ayrshire huns. I just wonder are we ever going to get rid of the hun cabal. It’s high time someone in authority inside the club said something about this.
KEEP THE FAITH
Just popped over to Huns game 2:1 Saints
Might stay here
Wee question asked of Sevco now?
Not making predictions but it will be interesting
PB
Get back to the other game before you jinx it.
Love to see Sevco go out here tonight but with no disrespect to the other teams, a relatively straightforward path to yet another trophy was blown against Ross Co if St Mirren win tonight.
Kent booked for diving. Love this ref. Can we have him on 2 January?
Ref has just booked a Hun, whits going on here, ref going to end up being a ball boy for the rest of his career, he’s just booked another
When Goldson scored in the early minutes tonight, Craigen said that “the score could be whatever Rangers wanted it to be tonight.” I wonder if he’s regretting saying that.
Craigen a hurting hun
Der Hun with 4 subs on. McGrath’s second goal was from around 35 yards. Let’s hope they hang on. Would dent their confidence a tad.

Did he really say that? Dreadfully unprofessional if he did. Eleven professionals ALWAYS have a chance of sorts in a game of this stature.
Sounds mad but is this refereeing in a non league game and, therefore, doesn’t matter in their pursuit of ten so they’re happy to “balance” it up or just an honest referee?
Sometimes paranoia is knowing all the facts…..
Sorry their pursuit of “stop” the ten
I can’t wait for Sunday 🍀

To be fair, he said if St Mirren defend like that, the score could be whatever they want it to be.
St Mirren have reponded well.
Martim1980 – I’ve long thought that to be the case. But there are some stunning exhibits of us being done in cup finals and semis by refs. Ross County hand ball on the line for one. Goal disallowed against oldco in mons tenure spring to mind. Sometimes they just canny help themselves!

…………..,.
Yes he did. Him and the commentator (McLean????) were searching the Oxford Divtionary because they had run out of superlatives about Rangers form in the season so far.
Roberts is no thanks.
Stop looking backwards.
Him and FF are hopefully never coming back
RobertTressell i felt those games and times they had nothing to benefit them as they were franced so it was to affect us.
Now they have a sniff – overdrive in dark arts. No point in them favouring them when they are not in it.
Tavernier goal chalked off earlier as linesman adjudged ball to have gone out prior to cross. His last Hun game I’m sure.
Fifth sub on for Hun as they get desperate.
Just saw a minute or two of the Huns game on Hesgoal and Cregan (sp?) was surprisingly fair in his ` analysis` of a clash which led to a head injury to the then sunstituted Sevco player.
Lennyboy and MWD. Thank You Lads for facillitating my Dad. He LOVES Celtic quite a lot.
I just hope we Win on Sunday.
Nothing is a Shay Given.
C’Mon the Magical Celts.
Superb goal for Liverpool. 89th minute.
Huns fluke a goal
