Hit them hard and early

138

The gap between Saturday and Tuesday evening games is short enough, more so when you are away for both games and need to travel to Germany in between.  Borussia Dortmund play Bochum tonight, a full 22 hours before Celtic face St Johnstone.  You would rather we had that extra day’s rest.

So the plan should be to get as much rest into the legs as possible.  The best way to do this would surely be to hit St Johnstone hard and early, get the work done and use all five substitutes as early.

Confident talk like that comes easy when Celtic are in current form; by contrast, tomorrow’s opponents look a soft touch.  They beat 10-man Kilmarnock on the second game of the season and after sacking Craig Levein, took a point at Ross County on Saturday.  The rest of their Premiership games have ended in defeat.

  1. Celtic have decided to move future Celtic Women home matches to New Douglas Park in Hamilton.

The Airdrie stadium apparently does not meet the strict criteria for Women’s CL games so Celtic have signed a 2-season deal to move to Hamilton for all home games.

  2. Paul 67,

It is entitely in our own control to get as much rest into our legs as possible .

That is the concept of squad rotation.

  3. The Ghirls Football team moving to Hamilton Accies 0n a permanent deal,This club of ours is great ones for helping out other clubs ,take St Rochs up in the Garngad were one of Celtics greats Jimmy McGrory played there in his youth, surely our board should be helping to upgrade their stadium as to the girls playing there home games there, and what’s is the point in building a£20 + .million facilities in Barrowfield for them to play in Hamilton

  4. The Scottish FA can confirm that VAR Manager Jon Moss will be leaving his role to take up a senior position with another national association.

“Moss joined new Scottish FA Head of Refereeing, Willie Collum, last month but has since been offered a top referee job with an association in a different continent.”

  8. Bringing the likes of Kuhn and Engels on for the last thirty when the opposition is tired is equally just as valid a strategy. I’d be leaving Palma, Welsh and Ralston out, I think we’ll be fine regardless if we make changes elsewhere.

Good to see the TV companies helping us out.

We could easily have played tonight.

It’s a LONG way off … but there will come a time when either a club or its players will refuse to fulfil an inappropriately scheduled game.

I believe that our ko time was Sky’s effort to provide Man City with extra rest before their game (also on Tuesday).

  12. Watched the Europa game last night and it’s a bit of a mystery how Rangers got the win with such a toothless, feeble attack. Malmo were giving out early Christmas presents, maybe a dozen beautifully gift rapped.

Hopefully we have the same luck against Dortmund on Tuesday night and the Germans are in the same generous mood.

Never saw the game, in fact as previously stated i didn’t even know tje huns were playing.

However it is undeniably a good result for them. Malmö are sitting 8 points clear at tje top of their league.

Is it possible tjat on their day the huns are not a bad team, but we are just so much better than them.

Anyway, eye on the prize Celtic. Dortmund is the prize and it is a realistic aspiration.

Everything must be done to maximise our opportunity. Including squad rotation at the weekend.

    25 years. Wow. Time flies.

I wonder if the mortgage has been paid off?

N that time, they’ve passed 370 bills apparently.

Averages just under 15 bills a year.

    Or 1.25 bills per month.

    Way to go Parliamentarians.

    Unbelievable levels of productivity.
