HMRC had plenty of reason to hold Scottish football in contempt, after one club hid contracts from them and paid disguised renumeration, cost the taxpayer millions on legal fees, before being found liable for over £100m of unpaid tax and disappearing into liquidation.
Yesterday, Celtic published their interim account and we learned that HMRC are due £10.979m from Celtic, for the six months to 31 December 2024. Not only are we winning trophies, we are paying for public services! Celtic are an economic powerhouse, bringing income to tax collecting authorities in Glasgow, Holyrood and Westminster.
Cash in the bank at period end was down to £65.4m (2023: £67.3m), reflecting significant investment in the playing squad over the summer, as well as property at Barrowfield, Celtic Park and Lennoxtown.
A 3% drop in revenue to £83.5m reflects the change in how Champions League income is acknowledged. There will be a corresponding uplift in Champions League income in the second half of the season, which will also benefit from at least one more home game.
These and other factors, such as an increase in fuel costs, caused profit before player trading to drop to £26.937m (2023: £32.005m). Almost £27m profit at six months gives a lot of comfort that, in the event we did not make the Champions League proper, we would still trade comfortably without being forced into a tailspin. No “pack (sic.) of card” collapsing here.
Despite our Champions League playoff games this month, income and profitability is almost certain to drop in the second six months of the season. Notwithstanding this, season 2024-25 should be the most financially successful in our history. Players win trophies, not the P&L, but profit pays for the players. If you want to win, operate at a profit, if you want to win lots, solidify your profitability.
Celtic are one of the best run clubs in world football. They only pay dividends on the preference shares they are legally required to pay since Fergus set them up in the 90s. We attract and retain top talent on and off the field. The 21st century is ours, the rest of Scottish football are there to make up the numbers.
Daizen Maeda’s reprieve from suspension against Bayern Munich tomorrow evening is a huge boost. Three years after arriving in Glasgow, Daizen is in the form of his life. He is more suited to games where Celtic are pressed deep than anyone else in the squad and will be a significant part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans to transition against Bayern.
With the League Cup already in the Celtic trophy cabinet and a healthy lead in the league, the Scottish Cup takes on added importance for those remaining in the tournament. Hibernian will not be easy in the quarterfinal but there’s no complaints, as this is our fifth consecutive home draw across both cup competitions since losing at Kilmarnock in August 2023.

Didn’t realise that Haaland did the Adam Idah celebration after his goal until I saw the replay.
Typical EPL always second best. 😀
Looking at the defeats of Brest and Sporting tonight, we’re in for a real test tomorrow
Gene at 10:36pm
Aye it’s a worry – looking at ‘Arry’s stats in a tough league, I’m glad my study already has a big sofa to hide behind.
More hope in my heart than expectation but I trust we’ll give a professional showing.
Deffo a penalty for me.A lot of force as well.Foden was not play acting after.Very hard and clumsy.
Enjoyed that tonight. Not over.Madrid can be sensational, erratic as well.
By the way,Bayern have been shit in the CL.I really think we can win tomorrow night.
I don’t normally.Sometimes don’t watch this us v Superstar games.Can’t watch us getting pumped
See how it goes.

“They’ve already found enough money stolen from American people to give the American working people $1million dollars EACH and Trump and DOGE have not even been in office for a full month yet!!!!”
When can UK, EU, Ire, etc’s people get a Trump and DOGE?
We end up with lying grifters like krankie, Boris, Starmer, Mary Lou Krankie etc.
It seems to pay if you don’t fall for woke virtue signallers.
Brendan’s got some neck being churlish about Maedas goal tally eh.
How about a good manager wouldn’t play his best striker as a fkn winger?
It’ll be 0-9 for Bayern tonight and fraudgers needs to be sacked immediately afterwards. None of fraudgers “We’ll learn from this…” glibby piss patter should be acceptable.
We need a Trump and DOGE sooner than soon CSC
Can ye imagine the off the books skeletons that big DOGE would find in Old Firm land? lol
Evening.
Up and awake in the wee hours.
http://www.arsepiece.com is down right now so we might see a few posts here.
Don’t click the link, I just made it up.
Lord knows where it leads.
Good matchday morning from a Champion day in the Garngad.
Anything other than a big defeat and try and keep tie alive. A 2-1 to us would be an amazing result, a 2-1 or a 3-2 to the Gerries would be not to shabby.
Anyway Daizen 6/1 to score at anytime. Get yer dough on it.
D. :)
Good morning CQN.
Game day
Bring it on.
Intensity is a must tonight.
They are a top team but they concede goals.
Hopefully the team are rested (relatively) and raring to go.
Nothing to fear Celtic.
League games : Bayern have played 21 games and have 54 points.
We have played 25 games and have 66 points.
So if Bayern win their 4 games they can equal us.
.so there it is, we are equals.
Get right f@ cking inta them Celtic. 😀
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE last night…Bets.
I tried to guess the Correct Scores on the CL games on Tuesday ( last night).
I had THREE Correct Score bets WRONG outta Four selections.
However, I did manage to get One Correct Score right……MAN CITY – 2 v REAL MADRID – 3. I had this scoreline on TWO separate Bookie Lines.
The odds were… 22/1 and 20/1.
I ALSO have the Real Madrid Scoreline on a DOUBLE with Celtic v Bayern Munich tonight, so heres hoping.
I will not Post my Correct Score ” Prediction” of Celtic v Bayern on here for fear of ” Tempting Fate” ?
LOL.
HH.
I wondered why I could NOT find Man City v Real Madrid on TNT Sports last night, but then I remembered that I saw it advertised on ” PRIME”. It was quite enjoyable especially WITHOUT a certain CHUMP called McCOIST.
I see that the 2nd Leg of BAYERN v CELTIC in Munich is also due to be shown on ” PRIME” next Tuesday night.
Celtic v Bayern Tonight is to be shown on TNT Sports….Lets hope that McCoist is nowhere near the Celtic game.
How I detest that Hun Chump.

Morning all,
Working until 8 so will head straight out to a pub in town to watch the game.
Feeling a lot more confident with Maeda available.
As ever against the big guns i just hope we put in a good performance and hopefully we get something out of it.
Jota – Maeda – Kuhn to start for me, with big Adam coming on later on.
I don’t think the bayern v celtic match, next week, can be viewed on prime, outwith the UK. Can anyone confirm?
Personally I would play,Khun Maeda and Jota from the start tonight.Sometimes its that bit of individual flair that can make all the difference.I think they will have watched Maeda, and have their plans for him.Easier to double up on a guy on the wing. Not as easy with his pace through gaps in the middle.
We have one chance at this. Our pace and skill up front,as Madrid showed last night, can be a matchwinner.

…………………….
Out of interest……HOW MUCH of your Money have you placed on Bets with any Bookie that Bayern will 9 – 0 tonight ?
C’mon don’t be a complete fanny….HOW MUCH Money have you staked on 9 – 0, and what Bookie ODDS did you get ?
I will bet that YOU have NOT staked a single penny on the Celtic v Bayern game, nor do you intend to ?
Put yer money where your mouth is…
Big Jimmy

………………
BET365 are offering ODDS on Bayern winning 8 – 0 at 250/1. No odds for 9-0 are listed so give them a phone and ask.. I would guess that Bet365 would give you odds of at least 275/1 if you ask nicely ?
Ladbrokes are taking the Piss….They are offering odds on Bayern winning 9 – 0 at ONLY 150/1.
Let us all know ” HOW MUCH” of your own money you have staked on Bayern to win by 9 – 0.
You have plenty of time before Kick Aff.
Ziggy, I have Prime here in Germany and it is showing as having next week’s match for free.
