HOME, SWEET HOME, KASPER?

KASPER SCHMEICHEL will be hoping it is home, sweet home when he tries to shut out FC Midtyjlland in Denmark this evening.

The Celtic keeper is still looking for his first shut-out in the Europa League after the team’s 1-1 draw with Red Star Belgrade in the Serbian capital and the home games against Sporting Braga, an upset 2-0 loss, and a 2-1 win over Sturm Graz.

A favourable result would also act as a belated birthday present for the Danish international No.1 who tuned 39 yesterday, as CQN reported.

THE BHOY DANE GOOD…Kasper Schmeichel looks in control.

After successive losses to Dundee, 2-0 at Dens Park, and Hearts, 3-1 at Tynecastle, the team have rallied since the arrival of Martin O’Neill in an interim capacity and beaten Falkirk 4-0 in the league and Rangers 3-1 in the Premier Sports League Cup semi-final at Hampden.

Schmeichel, speaking to Celtic TV, said: “A lot of things are a lot easier when you get the confidence of winning games.

“And one of the first things the boss said was to remind us that we are a very good team. That was one of the big issues with us.

“I always love playing back home in Denmark. The only chances usually I get are for the national team.

“I’ve never played club football back here.

“Always good to be home, but I wouldn’t say I’m extra motivated or anything.”
