HOOPS BOSS PRAISES MUSONDA, DEMBELE

CHARLY MUSONDA made his first Celtic appearance as a second-half substitute in the rampant 3-1 victory over Hearts at Parkhead last night.

The Belgian playmaker, who agreed an 18-month loan deal from Chelsea the previous day, came on for James Forrest just after the hour mark as the Hoops cruised to three points.

Goals from Odsonne Edouard, Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele demolished the Tynecastle side in a whirlwind first-half.

Brendan Rodgers said: “It’s going to take Charly a wee bit of time just to find the rhthym of new team-mates.

“But you see his qualities. He has that creative imagination to open the game up.

“It was nice for him to feel the crowd and the support here and he will be a great addition for us.”

The Celtic gaffer also admitted Dembele was more like his old self after a private talk with the French Under-21 striker.
He said: “We sat down during the week and had a chat over a few days.

“We pulled together some videos of his work and talked about his strengths.

“Through everything that’s gone on he’s maybe come away from those strengths, so it was a case of breaking it down and highlighting the type of player he is.

“When he’s pressing and on the line then he’s very hard to cope with. That was much more like him against Hearts.

“Overall, it was a very good performance in both halves.

“We took our chances first-half, didn’t in the second. But, overall, it was an outstanding team performance.

“We created chances and that’s the only disappointment from the evening – not to have scored more goals.”
