CELTIC are monitoring £1.5million-rated Gillingham defender Jack Tucker.

The eight-in-a-row champions have consistently scouted the 20-year-old since the turn of the year, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

Tucker has been a stand-out performer for the English League One side this season and has also attracted the attention of top-flight duo West Ham and Aston Villa.

Championship outfit Brentford had a £1million bid knocked back for the player in last month’s transfer window.

Tucker has made just 35 appearances for the Gills after making his debut at the age of 17 against Portsmouth in October 2017.

His manager, Steve Evans, is an admitted lifelong Celtic fan and attempted to prise Karmoko Dembele from the Parkhead side in an ambitious loan move last month. Neil Lennon rejected his advances as he has plans for the 17-year-old wonderkid during the second half of the campaign.

The Hoops boss had also tracked Carlisle United’ s teenage central defender Jarrad Branthwaite before his £1million switch to Everton last month.
