HOOPS COULD HEAD FOR ISRAEL OR ROMANIA

CELTIC are heading for Israel or Romania in the third qualifying round of the Champions League – if, of course, they take care of Estonians Nomme Kalju at the second hurdle.

Neil Lennon’s men could face the challenge of Maccabi Tel Aviv or Cluj next month.

The Hoops’ concentration, though, will be completely on the tie against Kalju with the first leg at Parkhead on Wednesday before next week’s return.

The first leg date for the third round encounter is August 6 or 7.

The eight-in-a-row champions missed the possibility of a rematch against the Slovenians of Maribor who knocked out Ronny Deila’s team at the play-off stage in 2014. They also missed other potentially dangerous opponents in Greek title-winners PAOK, Red Star Belgrade and AIK Stockholm.

Lennon’s outfit reached the second stage following a 5-2 aggregate triumph over FK Sarajevo, winning 3-1 in Bosnia and following up with a 2-1 success in Glasgow last week.
