HOOPS FLOP GETS THE BOOT

NEIL LENNON has confirmed midfield flop Youssouf Mulumbu has left Celtic.

The 32-year-old DR Congolese international was signed by Brendan Rodgers last summer after a successful one-year deal at Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock which included a winning goal against the Hoops in Premiership encounter at Rugby Park.

However, a disappointing Mulumbu made only three appearances for the ex-boss before being loaned back to the Ayrshire outfit for the second half of last season.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain prospect is currently with his country in Egypt during the African Cup of Nations and is now free to find a new club after the champions activated a break clause in his contract.

Lennon, according to the Scottish Sun, said: “Mulumbu is a free. He is away, so there is not a future for him here.”

Ironically, one of the player’s rare outings for the Hoops was against his old team Killie last September when a stoppage-time goal from Stuart Findlay condemned the visitors to a 2-1 defeat.

Mulumbu didn’t last the 90 minutes after being replaced by Callum McGregor.
