CELTIC rookie keeper Ross Doohan will complete his season-long loan deal to Tranmere Rovers within the next 24 hours, as CQN forecast last month.

The highly-rated 23-year-old shotstopper has dropped down the Parkhead pecking order with the £1million arrival of former England international netminder Joe Hart, 34, yesterday on a three-year contract.

Vasilis Barkas, last summer’s £4.5million buy from AEK Athens, Scott Bain and Northern Ireland’s Conor Hazard are all ahead of Doohan in the battle for the gloves at Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Former Dundee United boss Micky Mellon, who took over as Tranmere gaffer in the summer, took the youngster to Tannadice on a temporary deal last season.

Doohan is due a medical at Prenton Park before completing the formality of the transfer.

He has already had spells at Morton, Ayr United, Ross County and Dundee United as he awaits his chance at the Hoops.
