CELTIC Jonathan Afolabi has joined Championship side Dunfermline on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old forward has been allowed to move by Neil Lennon with the youngster requiring much-needed game-time.

Afolabi, a Republic of Ireland Youth international, arrived at Parkhead in August after rejecting an extension on his contract at Southampton.

The energetic frontman agreed a three-year deal and has impressed, but has yet to make a first-team appearance.

Keeper Conor Hazard has also agreed to return to Dundee until the remainder of the campaign.

Afolabi and the Irishman are the latest Celts to go out on a temporary transfer in this window following Eboue Kouassi (Genk), Jack Hendry (Melbourne City), Lee O’Connor (Partick Thistle) while Scott Sinclair has joined English Championship side Preston North End and Lee Morgan is heading for David Beckham’s MLS outfit Inter Miami.

Lennon has also brought back Ewan Henderson, from Ross County, and Stephen Walsh, from Morton.
