CAMERON HARPER is ready to quit Celtic and sign for New York Red Bulls – as CQN forecast almost three weeks ago.

The 19-year-old California-born forward is out of contract at the end of the season and will almost certainly rubber-stamp his return to America this month.

Harper is highly rated at Parkhead, but has made only one first-team appearance when he made his debut in the 1-1 draw with Hibs in Glasgow last month. He was brought in along with the likes of Karamoko Dembele and Armstrong Oko-Flex with 13 players sidelines with Covid-related issues following the ill-fated trip to Dubai.

The transfer window in the States does not open until Wednesday next week when the deal is likely to be announced. Their season kicks off early next month.

The exciting teenager has already had pre-contract talks with the MLS outfit, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Hoops have also seen promising youngsters leave in recent months in the form of Liam Morrison and Barry Hepburn – who both joined Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Josh Adam left for Manchester City last summer.

Goalkeeper Liam Hughes joined Liverpool on deadline day while another shotstopper Vincent Angelini, grandson of club legend Davie Hay, could be on his way to Manchester United with Italian sides Lazio, Fiorentina and AC MIlan also watching. Everton and Southampton have also been alerted to the fact the 6ft 3in 17-year-old is out of contract in the summer.
