HOOPS KID IN DEMAND

BOSUN LAWAL is on the brink of a loan move from Celtic to gain some valuable game-time in the new season.

The 20-year-old centre-back impressed former boss Ange Postecoglou after arriving from Watford two years ago.

However, Lawal is still awaiting his Hoops first-team debut and new gaffer Brendan Rodgers may be willing to allow the 6ft-plus stopper to move to obtain much-needed experience.

HIGH HOPES…Bosun Lawal joins in the celebrations as Celtic beat Ibrox opposition 6-5 in extra-time of last season’s amazing Youth Cup Final at Hampden.

English League One rivals Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers are keen on the top prospect who has featured four times for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side, according to local media.

Lawal was a mainstay in the Hoops’ B team last term, but the consistency of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt, Postecoglou’s preferred central defensive pairing, kept him on the periphery.

And with news breaking that the champions are lining up a £5.2million swoop for Legia Warsaw’s centre-half Maik Nawrocki, as CQN reported earlier today, could edge the youngster closer to a loan move across the border.
