HOOPS KID’S DEAL SCRAPPED

ANDREW GUTMAN is set for a shock return to Celtic after he had his loan deal sensationally scrapped by Nashville.

Major League Soccer have refused to support a move for the 22-year-old defender who joined the Hoops on deadline day.

Former Indiana Hoosiers prospect Gutman, who switched to the Parkhead side after having trials at Rangers, is on his way back to the champions after his move Stateside was not ratified.

A Nashville statement read: “This past week, Nashville Soccer Club had announced its intention to take defender Andrew Gutman on loan from Celtic FC.

“However, as an expansion member of MLS and in light of the fact that MLS does not support the transaction, Nashville will not be proceeding with the loan.

“We wish Andrew the best this season and we will have no further comment on the matter.”

Rodgers, who has been impressed by the hard-working left-back, is likely to put the remaining months to a good use with the player being utilised in the Hoops ranks outwith the first team squad.

The idea had been for Gutman to continue picking up experience in his homeland before coming back in the summer.

However, with the MLS making their decision, the player’s education will be extended in Scotland.
