HOOPS SNAP UP IRISH TEEN SENSATION

CELTIC have pipped Manchester City to sign Irish teen sensation Ben Quinn.

The 15-year-old winger was wanted by the Etihad giants while Premier League outfit Wolves, newly-promoted Norwich City and Championship sides Derby and Sheffield United were also keen.

The Republic of Ireland talent has been on the radar of top UK clubs after being spotted playing for Dublin side Cheery Orchard.

Chief executive Peter Lawwell welcomed him to Parkhead yesterday as the champions confirmed the signing of Quinn.

The Hoops boss has overseen an increase in investment in their scouting system in Ireland in recent years, with the latest acquisition following Tommy Caffrey and Barry Coffey who recently moved to Glasgow.

Republic of Ireland international winger Jonny Hayes is already a first-team performer at the champions following his £1.2million move from Aberdeen in the summer of 2017.

The versatile 31-year-old has filled in on both flanks in recent games and made an appearance as a second-half substitute for James Forrest in the 1-0 win over Kimarnock at the weekend.
