HOOPS TARGET IN TURKISH LINK

CELTIC could lose out in their pursuit of Queens Park Rangers winger Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The highly-rated 23-year-old attacker has been scouted by the champions since summer – as CQN reported – but it now looks likely he is heading for Fenerbahce, according to reports in the Turkish media.

Gary Penrice, of the Hoops recruitment team, alerted Neil Lennon to the player who is out of contract in June and had knocked back the offer of an extension from Loftus Road gaffer Mark Warburton.

The Nigerian-born touchline ace has been on the radar with Lennon searching for wide players after allowing Scott Sinclair and Lewis Morgan to leave a year ago while Jonny Hayes quit at the end of his deal to rejoin Aberdeen, Maryan Shved was allowed to move to Belgium on loan while James Forrest and Mikey Johnston both suffered long-term injuries.

But it appears Turkish giants Fenerbahce have won the race for the raider who has scored three goals in 21 appearances this season, according to media outlet Bursa Hakimiyet who state anĀ “official offer has been submitted” to the London club and Osayi-Samuel, adding that “negotiations are ongoing”.

It is believed the initial deal is a pre-contract agreement, but the Turks, who are sixth in the league, will push for a permanent transfer during this month’s transfer window.
