HOOPS TO WORK A FLANKER

CELTIC are planning to work a flanker in the new season when the exciting double-act of Daniel Arzani and Maryan Shved will be pushing for first-team places.

James Forrest, Jonny Hayes and Scott Sinclair have had the champions winging it in this campaign and all three figured in Sunday’s 3-0 Scottish Cup semi-final triumph over Aberdeen.

But the Aussie World Cup attacker, going into the second of his two-year stint on loan from Manchester City, and the Ukrainian, who agreed a four-and-a-half year deal in January before being loaned back to Karpaty Lviv, are ready to put pressure on to become regular wide Bhoys.

The unfortunate Arzani has returned to the Etihad giants to step up his rehabilitation from the torn anterior cruciate ligament which wrecked his first term at Parkhead.

ONE OF THE BHOYS…Ukrainian winger Maryan Shved is looking forward to his Celtic career.

The tricky 20-year-old forward was carried off only minutes into his Hoops stint when he came on as a substitute in the 5-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park in October.

Arzani underwent surgery and, speaking to the Daily Record, vowed to “improve and come out of this better than ever”.

He is due to return to the champions in time for their pre-season training ahead of Champions League qualifiers.

Twenty-one-year-old Shved.is completing the campaign in fine style at his former team and netted his 14th goal of the season at the weekend.

Lewis Morgan, currently on loan at Sunderland, is also due to resume his Hoops career in the new term while Mikey Johnston will also be pushing for a place.

There will be a fair turnaround in playing staff at the club in the summer, but Arzani, Shved, Morgan and Johnson are four youngsters who will be eager to make their mark.
