CELTIC’S Great Dane Kasper Schmeichel celebrates his 39th birthday today.

And the legendary 118 times-capped keeper is looking for the perfect gift of three Europa League points when he lines up against FC Midtjylland in his homeland tomorrow night.

Schmeichel, who joined from Anderlecht in the summer of 2023 after his contract at the Belgian outfit expired, picked up a title medal in his debut campaign at Parkhead and was a penalty-kick hero in the Premier Sports League Cup final spot-kick shoot-out against Rangers in December last year.

NUMBER ONE FOR No.1…Kasper Schmeichel celebrates his first Celtic trophy after the penalty-kick shoot-out triumph in the Premier Sports League Cup Final at Hampden last December.

The much-decorated No.1 plunged to his left to deny Ridvan Yilmaz before Daizen Maeda tucked the winner in the corner to make certain of the first silverware of last season’s crusade.

The towering netminder became an instant hit with the Hoops fans after replacing the popular Joe Hart who retired in fine style after helping Celtic beat Ibrox opposition 1-0 in the Scottish Cup Final on the iconic date of May 25 2024 to seal the double.

Schmeichel and Co have their eyes on another day of celebration when they face St Mirren in the Premier Sports League Cup showpiece at the national stadium on Sunday December 14.

Before that, though, there are points to be won at home and in Europe and that will remain the focus of the iconic shotstopper had his colleagues.

All at CQN and Celtic fans everywhere wish Kasper a happy 39th birthday!
