CELTIC hitman Kyogo Furuhashi celebrates his 30th birthday today,
The Hoops fans’ favourite is aiming to mark the occasion by adding to his only Champions League strike when Brendan Rodgers men face Switzerland’s Young Boys under the lights in the east end of Glasgow on Wednesday night.
Kyogo, a bargain £4.6million recruit from J-League outfit Vissel Kobe in July 2021, was on target in the 5-1 opening-day victory over Slovan Bratislava at the same venue in September as the hosts got their latest Euro adventure off to a perfect start.
GOAL-DEN BHOY…Kyogo Furuhashi in full flight.
The Hoops are on the brink of qualifying for the play-offs where success will open the door to the lucrative knock-out section of Europe’s elite competition.
Rodgers has seen his team claim ten goals in the six previous games with Daizen Maeda (3), Nicolas Kuhn (2), Liam Scales, Arne Engels, Adam Idah and Reo Hatate adding to Kyogo’s strike.
The prolific hitman is sitting on 85 Celtic goals after his double in the 4-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall earlier this month.
A goal or two against the Swiss opponents in midweek would be a timely, if belated, birthday gift.
Good luck, Kyogo, from CQN readers and Celtic fans everywhere!
