Hopes for Viljami, Paulo and Maik

155

It wasn’t quite, but if feels like 40 days and 40 nights since we last saw Celtic, and even that game was a penance.  The Bhoys are back in town tomorrow with the visit of Hearts, who, like Celtic, have won three and lost two of their last five games.  Like Celtic, the defeats came to Hibs and Newco.  We can expect a difficult opponent.

Hearts are sixth in the table, just a point ahead of Motherwell, with three games to go before the split.  They are only two points behind Dundee United, and a probable European place next season.  The financial incentive for a club like Hearts to finish in the top six and qualify for Europe gives them a target tomorrow we can only aspire to.

Paulo Bernardo’s return to fitness is great news, although we should not expect Classic Paulo tomorrow.  Hopefully the full flavoured version will be ready for Hampden next month.  I know we are all looking forward to seeing Viljami Sinisalo make his first league appearance for Celtic.  Viljami represents all the ‘buy low and develop’ strategy we have experienced in the last 18 months.  Let’s hope he succeeds.

I would also like to see Maik Nawrocki retain his place.  He has the potential to develop into an excellent Celtic player, but that development needs to happen soon.

  1. If Nawrocki plays, it cannot be on the left of our centre backs.

Everything stops so he can pass to the right.

We can be sure that we’re not the only ones who noticed that.

  2. I dont want Celtic ever to be in the position to aspire to finish top 6. If we are motivated fit and prepared we will win, we have better players and a better manager than them

  3. Nawrocki as proxy for “buy low sell high “ dogma uber alles is a strange hill to die on

Like Taylor, Scales, Palma, Lagerbielke he is fundamentally too slow for Celtics style of play and specifically a very defensive high line and no “development” will change that

In addition his passing out from the back is not good enough for a high ball possession team whose centre backs need to break the first press

He was badly scouted and recruited and we need to learn from that

  4. I think it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see Nawrocki, it’s difficult to see him going from 4/5th choice CB to the starting 11. He certainly isn’t displacing CCV from that right CB slot.

We’ve a treble to win and a trip to Ibrox to win – let’s move towards that and see out the season in style. Play our strongest 11 and give minutes to the squad members returning from injuries.

You can not teach the unteachable, Alan !

  6. It really pisses me off that the name I’ve had on here for 20 years or so has become a word game.

Even though I only post about once every couple of years, every time I see “Hoople”, I think someone is talking to me at last……..

  7. bournesouprecipe on

Ah yes, Maik Nawrocki even when fit – Brendan seems to have preferred Liam Scales, 500k Stephen Welsh £ Zero and Dane Murray £ Zero

    WhatIsHeLike CSC

  8. It’s a NOwrocki from me, totally exposed when when receiving a pass , turns away didn’t want it and couldn’t get rid of it and return it back to where it came from

  9. Just think of the boost Maik Nawrocki would get if he became….

    “Mick Nawrocki” hopefully.

Then get the video of him – clicking – as he’s taken under Timmy wings of lets say, big Tony….and Mick will Maik his Celtic confirmation in front of the irreplaceable Green Brigade with his own wee final whistle jig.

But its woeful management of big Maik that he only gets a game when there are injuries or suspensions.

Judging a centre half on how many beautiful passes he plays out from the back is, Snp school system humdrum bunkum.

Should we measure big handsome Tim, Adam Idah, by how many buses he catches in the opposition box, as he waits for the 4 wingers and busloads of midfield maestros seeking an eye in the needle to thread a pass to the big Irish hero?

Wee Barry wisnae long in knocking that daft tactical eejitry on its ass!

Dave King was right! The Celtic Way is a boring house cards, asking for a slap.

    Oh dear!

  10. At present, we don’t have a CB who is a good passer of the ball, in fact, you could probably say that about our whole back line. We get away with it due to the paucity of opposition ( last opponents excepted, who now seem to have our number).

  11. From what I’ve seen of him Maik is a good passer of the ball who takes risks and looks to break the lines

We need to find a solution to a pretty basic problem, it’s time to find out if he’s the answer.

  12. Either a passer to break the lines, or someone who can carry the ball with a bit more purpose

  13. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Maik hasn’t been a success.

But I’m not sure where the failure lies.

And, as time goes on, and we still win lots of stuff, I care less.

Young, half Polish-half German sturdy bugger from a decent league.

Eye of a needle pass was a ½ assist for Kyogo’s wondergoal against R2ngers.

Good point made earlier by An Dun.

The right CB and left CB situations are different.

Left is up for grabs whereas no one is displacing CCV if he is fit.

Why I believe the approach to RCB has to be

    – keep CCV and get him fit (2 years now since his knee op)

    – Promote Dane to backup. He’ll learn and improve and is less likely to take the hump about not playing.

… and, as a consequence, prioritse other positions like left back, winger, striker, 6th midfielder.

  14. The Pathology of a Troll: The Dark Triad

A study at Brigham Young University found that “individuals with dark triad personality traits (narcissism, Machiavellianism & psychopathy) combined with schadenfreude – a German word meaning that one derives pleasure from another’s misfortune – were more likely to demonstrate trolling behaviors.” That is to say that these traits exist in people who do not troll, but trolling behaviour will be born out of these unhealthy, dark and pernicious character traits.

Simply defined, these traits are as follows:

Narcissism – an obsession with self, either partially obsessed or totally obsessed. Someone who is totally obsessed with self is a malignant narcissist. A malignant narcissist is someone with total self-obsession. Nothing is ever done for another, except through the paradigm of their own self-obsession. Their main paradigm is them. You can see the narcissism in everyone to varying degrees.

Machiavellianism – a personality trait that denotes cunningness, the ability to be manipulative, and a drive to use whatever means necessary to gain power.[1] So named after the writings of Niccolo Machiavelli in the 16th century who wrote widely advising rulers to employ fear, intimidation and manipulation in their authority and leadership.

Psychopathy – a pathology characterised by a lack of empathy continuous antisocial behavior, impulsivity, selfishness, callous and unemotional traits and remorselessness. [2] Psychopathy falls on a continuum opposite to empathy, where the less empathic someone is, the more psychopathic they are and vice versa.

Jennifer Golbeck PhD writes “Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response”. And the response they seek is only to narcissistically feed on other people, that is to say, engage with other people for the sole purpose of feeding their own sense of self.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! – Isaiah 5:20 ESV

    Trolls Enjoy Hurting People

Interestingly, some studies seem to show that the dark triad of emotions may have a genetic component, that is to say the predisposition is in our genes, not just in our environments and what we are exposed to as children. What is clear is that, for whatever reason, a person who possesses these character traits is a deeply unhealthy person who hurts other people and chooses trolling as a way of hurting people. In fact, research now shows that people who were involved in malevolent trolling, that is trolling that was deliberately aimed to hurt other people tested highly for “sadism” which is the enjoyment derived from what they were doing. So, not only do trolls deliberately aim to hurt people but research shows that they enjoy it too which is in keeping with the psychopathy and schadenfreude character traits.

  15. We have a very goof left footed CH, if he is fit play him.

The reason Jota never got a pass against Sevco was because NAwroki is right footed.

    Play the best 11

  16. great post scullybhoy – got to try and be aware of and understand dangerous damaged people.
