Hopes for Viljami, Paulo and Maik

155

It wasn’t quite, but if feels like 40 days and 40 nights since we last saw Celtic, and even that game was a penance.  The Bhoys are back in town tomorrow with the visit of Hearts, who, like Celtic, have won three and lost two of their last five games.  Like Celtic, the defeats came to Hibs and Newco.  We can expect a difficult opponent.

Hearts are sixth in the table, just a point ahead of Motherwell, with three games to go before the split.  They are only two points behind Dundee United, and a probable European place next season.  The financial incentive for a club like Hearts to finish in the top six and qualify for Europe gives them a target tomorrow we can only aspire to.

Paulo Bernardo’s return to fitness is great news, although we should not expect Classic Paulo tomorrow.  Hopefully the full flavoured version will be ready for Hampden next month.  I know we are all looking forward to seeing Viljami Sinisalo make his first league appearance for Celtic.  Viljami represents all the ‘buy low and develop’ strategy we have experienced in the last 18 months.  Let’s hope he succeeds.

I would also like to see Maik Nawrocki retain his place.  He has the potential to develop into an excellent Celtic player, but that development needs to happen soon.

Leeds United 49ers Season Tickets up 20% for next season after another increase this season…..

  2. I heard that Brendan speaks with Desmond most days. Brendan is Desmonds go to man at the club.

Brendan rarely changes his mind on players. Nawrocki and Lagerbielke were disliked by Brendan and the feelings were mutual. CCV, Trusty, Scales are rated by Brendan and Murray is viewed as a real prospect needing Development. I suspect Welsh is on the way out.

It would not surprise me that Nawrocki and the two CH on loan to be sold off. Brendan will then bring in a new CH.

We dont see these players at training and Brendan does not rate them therefore we really dont see them as they dont play regularly.

Jota, O’Reilly and Kyogo were great at Celtic and all 3 have failed at their new clubs. Nawrocki, Lagerbielkeand Welsh could all succeed elsewhere

I assume they expect to be promoted. Very likely but not guaranteed. Talking about Dane Murray, I was surprised he never played in the game, two weeks ago. The best CB we’ve had recently, as passing a ball, was Julien. Not so Ajer, who was very good at carrying the ball out (with his feet, of course 😁).

    Yes, noticed that too.

The mistake was on Brendan Rodger’s part IMO by answering the question and giving the story relevance.

  5. Here’s Why Internet Trolls Are So Good at Upsetting You, According to Science

New research shows trolls have psychopath, sadist, and cognitive empathy traits.

EXPERT OPINION BY MINDA ZETLIN, AUTHOR OF ‘CAREER SELF-CARE: FIND YOUR HAPPINESS, SUCCESS, AND FULFILLMENT AT WORK’ @MINDAZETLIN

    JUL 5, 2017

Unless you stay away from all social media, you’ve encountered internet trolls. They’re the ones who drove Robin Williams’ grief-stricken daughter off of Twitter, who caused one female journalist to call the police in the middle of the night for fear that death threats might be carried out, and who turned Pepe the frog into an official hate symbol, over the objections of the cartoonist who created him.

But have you ever wondered why trolls are so effective? How do they know just the thing to say to upset you, no matter how hard you try to stay above the fray?

Now there’s an answer. In a new study by Natalie Sest and Evita March of Federation University in Australia, researchers gave 415 internet users questionnaires that tested for various personality traits and for propensity to trolling behavior, looking for the specific traits that would make someone likely to become a troll. In the process they got some clues as to why people become trolls, and why trolls are so very, very good at making their victims feel very, very bad.

They began with a simple observation you probably have made yourself: Although both genders become trolls, men are likelier to do so than women. Beyond that, things get more interesting:

    1. Trolls exhibit psychopath traits.

Now, before you start thinking that the average internet troll has dismembered bodies hidden in the basement, let me note that there are different degrees of psychopathy and many people have some amount of it without turning into serial killers. Psychopathy is broadly defined as a lack of empathy or feeling for others, an inability to feel guilt, and an ability to manipulate through charm. Other than in the movies, most psychopaths are not violent.

On the other hand, thrill-seeking and acting on impulse are associated with psychopathy. That may explain why psychopaths find trolling so enjoyable. It could be that “creating mayhem online is a central motivator to troll,” the researchers write. That’s why most experts agree that the best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them and not respond in any way (except perhaps to block their messages). Any sense that they’ve caused disruption or upset serves as a reward for their behavior.

    2. Trolls are sadistic.

Admittedly, you might not need a personality questionnaire to know that much. To say that trolls take pleasure in causing upset and disruption is to state the obvious. But, as with psychopathy, there are degrees of sadism and most of them stop well short of the Marquis for whom the term is named.

For years, I was part of an online community where a single member caused endless unhappiness with her constant criticisms and insults. Then one day, a mutual friend invited her to a party and I met her in person. She was a cheery elderly lady who would likely remind you of your favorite grandmother. “I enjoy causing trouble on our online forum,” she told me blithely.

Many of us have at least a little bit of sadist in us. Don’t believe me? Think about this: Have you ever played “keepaway,” tossing a ball or Frisbee to another older child, over the head of your frustrated younger sibling? Internet trolls may have that kind of sadism, only more so. That’s another reason it’s smarter not to let them know they’ve upset you.

    3. They have cognitive empathy, but not affective empathy.

There are two kinds of empathy, it turns out. What most people mean by “empathy” is actually affective empathy–the ability to experience and respond to the feelings of others. Rats, for example, have so much of it that if you hurt one of them, others nearby will also squirm in apparent pain.

There’s also cognitive empathy, which is the ability to understand and analyze the feelings of others but not feel them yourself. Internet trolls have lots of cognitive empathy and it helps them figure out exactly what to say that will upset you the most. Because they have little affective empathy, upsetting you won’t upset them. Because they have psychopathy, they won’t feel guilty about it either.

“Results indicate that when high on trait psychopathy, trolls employ an empathic strategy of predicting and recognizing the emotional suffering of their victims, while abstaining from the experience of these negative emotions,” the researchers wrote.

They didn’t offer concrete suggestions for stopping trolling, but said their goal was to “explore and extend the personality profile of internet trolls.” And, they wrote, “Results have implications for establishing education and prevention programs.” Prevention–wouldn’t that be nice?

“Nawrocki as proxy for “buy low sell high “ dogma uber alles is a strange hill to die on

Like Taylor, Scales, Palma, Lagerbielke he is fundamentally too slow for Celtics style of play and specifically a very defensive high line and no “development” will change that

In addition his passing out from the back is not good enough for a high ball possession team whose centre backs need to break the first press

He was badly scouted and recruited and we need to learn from that”.

    …………..

There are always lies, damn lies and statistics with data being pliable to support any opinion.

For all I know their analysis may be rubbish, but as Celtic supporters, I believe CBN and James analyse the data in good faith.

It was written on here that Nawrocki would one day be coveted by top EPL teams. After a long spell in the wilderness it still seems to the view that all he lacks is “development “.

It would be interesting to see the data behind this opinion.

If it doesn’t exist, the opinion starts to look like propaganda.

    Great speech from Bernie Sanders

I think he was robbed of the nomination, by the Democratic Party, when they chose Hillary Clinton to face Trump back in 2016, and with the threat of using the ‘super delegates’ against him at the National Convention if Bernie looked like winning, which he did. And not only that he would have beaten Trump, his fellow New Yorker, in that election, had he been nominated.

“Rodgers wants to reward the in form hitman and has escalated talks to Parkhead supremo Desmond”

Is that not the invisible CEO’s job, or has Brendan intervened due to his lack of activity 🤔

  15. Why Are Celtic Linked to Ireland?

Celtic’s links to Ireland go right back to the club’s creation. The club was established by Brother Walfrid, an Irishman, to improve the living conditions of Irish communities in Glasgow. Even the name, ‘Celtic’, was chosen to showcase the club’s Irish and Scottish heritage.

The Irish connection to Celtic is at the heart of what the club represents and throughout its history that bond has only grown stronger. It started with Walfrid’s hopes and dreams for making Irish lives better in Glasgow. He wanted Celtic to reflect the club’s Scottish and Irish identity and the club adopted some Irish symbolism soon after its creation.

The Celtic cross was used as the club’s emblem before it was replaced with a four-leaf clover; both are strong Irish symbols. In 1892, when Celtic’s stadium, Celtic Park, was built there was a little patch of Ireland on the playing surface.

The first sod of turf laid at Celtic’s new home had been imported from Donegal in Ireland. When Celtic Park was redeveloped in 1995, that symbolic gesture was repeated when turf from Donegal was once again laid.

Celtic enjoys such a strong Irish connection that many people wonder if Celtic fans support Scotland or Ireland.

  16. So how do we deal with trolls:

Trolls mostly are a representation of deep hidden self-dust, self-hatred. Therefore instead of feeling irritated we should try to lay our mercy on their miserable being.

Trolls can be a result of lower intelligence level of normality. I think I don’t need to explain this point. May God bless them.

When they shout at you that you are an attention seeker it might be that they themselves are attention seekers, but don’t argue with them since they will never admit it.

When trolling, a hater will never show his vulnerable side to avoid getting attacked so don’t expect them to admit that they are weak or wrong. It’s impossible. But this way you can see that the more they are trying to hide or refuse these two points the more they feel insecure about themselves. So let’s just lay our pity on their hurt little hearts.

When you “lose” the battle you might feel upset about letting them win. But as mentioned they will never get what they deeply need trough doing things in a negative way. So they will never win, unless they stop trolling.

May God bless their miserable life. As you can see, a person living a happy life won’t have the reason to spread hatred. So the more trolling he is the more miserable a hater’s life can be.
