HOW CAN CELTIC QUALIFY? ”IT WOULD TAKE A HUGE ERROR FROM US,’ VALENCIA BOSS

VALENCIA Head Coach Marcelino admitted his team can only throw it away now after taking a 2-0 lead from their Europa League last-32 encounter against Celtic last night.

The Spaniards’ gaffer saw his team score either side of the interval to overcome a strangely-subdued and error-strewn Hoops outfit at a packed Parkhead.

And Marcelino insisted it was not as comfortable as it looked for his La Liga outfit, who have lost only four games all season.

He said: “It may have seemed easy, but it was still a difficult match. All credit to our players for their excellent work.

“The atmosphere was extraordinary, but we managed to dampen it by trying to play a good game.

“The tie is not over, but it would take a huge error from us now not to qualify for the next round.”

Marcelino’s men are perfectly placed for the second game in front of their own support at the atmospheric Mestalla on Thursday as they prepare to knock the Hoops out of European competition for a THIRD time.

They have already turned over Parkhead sides managed by Jimmy McGrory and Martin O’Neill and they are only 90 minutes away from adding Brendan Rodgers to that list.
