‘HOW CAN THEY LOSE GAMES?’ ASKS McINNES

DEREK McINNES watched his Kilmarnock side clobbered by Celtic at Parkhead for the second time in the Premiership this season.

The Ayrshire club’s gaffer saw his side walloped 4-0 by the champions on the opening day of the league campaign in the east end of Glasgow on August 4.

And McInnes winced as his players collapsed to a 5-1 loss yesterday in an x-certificate display for the visitors.

SHOUT OF ORDER…Derek McInnes yells at his Killie players as Celtic pile on the misery.

Reo Hatate netted the Hoops’ first goal of the term on day one and the Japanese midfielder repeated the feat with a blockbuster opener on this occasion with a 25-yard screamer that scorched high past keeper Kieran O’Hara into the top left-hand corner of the net.

His compatriot Daizen Maeda, with his 31st strike of a prolific personal crusade, doubled the advantage before Cameron Carter-Vickers thundered in a breathtaking third.

Hatate made it 4-0 with a cute finish in the 25th minute and Anthony Ralston claimed No.5 in stoppage-time. Danny Armstrong provided the visitors with their crumb of comfort.

McInnes had no complaints about the outcome and, speaking to the MailOnline, admitted: “When you actually see Celtic like that, you think: ‘How can they lose games? How can they lose games against teams in the league?’

BHOY OH BHOY…two-goal Reo Hatate congratulates Daizen Maeda after his fellow-Japanese international had netted his 31st strike of the season.

“We got a bit of a run-around for long spells.

“It’s hard to take any positives from it.

“I think it was a combination of Celtic upping their levels, playing in a manner which they can for periods of that first-half and us just not being able to cope with that, to be honest.

“The team that normally wins the league is the team with the biggest investment and has the best squad.”

The bad news for McInnes and every other Premiership manager is the admission of Brendan Rodgers that Celtic WILL splash the cash and strengthen in the summer.
