How would you propose to play?

Front and foremost in the minds of Celtic’s board when considering a new manager will be squad considerations.  For two years we have recruited to a plan.  For example, fullbacks that can invert and are comfortable with both feet, traditional wingers, instead of wide midfielders like Moi Elyounoussi.

A manager can have a plan which superficially resembles how we currently play: move the ball quickly, press as soon as you are out of possession, use the width of the field when in possession, but when you drill down, that tells you nothing about what is required from specialists in the squad.

I don’t think we need a manager who plays exactly as we have recently, although I see the attraction, but whoever it is, he should believe in our current system enough to adopt it.  Right now, we have scouted thousands of games ahead of this summer’s recruitment drive.  The targe list is arranged to meet specific requirements.  Going back to the drawing board at this stage will not produce optimum results.

This excludes no one, but for the first time, the Celtic board are likely to put a great deal of weight into the answer to the question, “How would you propose to play?”

    Not true, simply NOT TRUE!

John McGinn chose to go to Aston Villa despite Celtic’s offer, por cierto

Poor cierto .thats not the story that I heard or the one doing the rounds on here at the time of Brendan Rodgers leaving us . Used as one of his spats with PL , that PL was left to close se the deal for McGinn and It never happened . Not saying I’m correct mind you ,but my version was on here at the time . HH

    Afternoon Paul.

    Magic,

MN is DDs right hand. DD will still be wrangling after losing the ten and squad devaluation that season. Peter will be back for contacts that suits DD.

Can you explain why disharmony in a relationship between the guy running the club and the manager is preferential and more likely to be a success for the team than harmony and a strong relationship.

This seems nonsense based on our recent experience.

WGS and Ange being best cases in point.

Glad to see MN in that shot . The picture I saw and was meaning was one with PL. and DD both looking rather glum .

    Great image.

Curious that Dermot is the only non director in the picture.

No surprise the one you have seen was widely circulated by msm.

They are always happy to have PL and DD as bogey men. Sadly many of our ‘faithful’ fall in line.

The level of hatred for PL on follow follow shows the job they think he has done for us this past 20 years. As does the trophy haul.

  7. I would keep roughly the same system that Ange set up which in many ways was a reversion to that set up by Rodgers. There’s no shortage of managers who believe in that system. I’d go for Knutsen as I believe he would be willing and able to tweek the system for Europe -his team can make transitions from attack to defense better than Celtic managed under both Rodgers and Ange. I see Ajax probably won’t be able to offer him as much as Celtic in term s of money and CL football. W should get that done asap.
