Howe agent comments correct

289

I hear that Eddie Howe’s agent was correct with his comments to Sky Sports last night, while the usual suspects in the Scottish media spun misinformation on top of what Sky reported.  It was likely the same agent who leaked that the former Bournemouth manager met Celtic last week.

It is an agent’s job to raise their client’s profile and flush out prospective employers.  If an unemployed manager is meeting Celtic, you will hear about it; those in a job need to be a bit more circumspect.  None of the latter’s agents have said a word publicly.

As the agent explained to Sky, Eddie does not want to take a job until the summer; I believe this is consistent with what he told Celtic.  Anything you subsequently read about backroom staff forced upon him is nonsense.  It did not happen.  The story is an invention to undermine Celtic, an occurrence which has an obsessional compulsion in some places.

There are reasons Howe is keen to sit on his hands for a few more weeks, the same reasons the agent is talking to Sky and someone leaked the meeting with Celtic (he has not been to Glasgow for any meetings).  There are no vacancies in the EPL right now, but that might change at Newcastle, Southampton (30 mile drive from Bournemouth), or Everton, whom he supported as a boy.  Before Eddie puts pen to paper, his agent will want all potential suitors checked out.  He is not doing his job, otherwise.  This is football.

Right now, Eddie Howe is the only manager whose agent is talking to the media, raising his profile with you and me above those who are speaking only to Celtic.  It is encouraging that we are working with this level of candidate, but until an appointment is made, or another agent breaks cover, we will need to endure the usual tripe from the usual sources.  Still, at least they are not taunting us with Roy Keane this week.

    AULDHEID @ 4:14

I have always saluted your assiduity on all matters surrounding Res12. I know that you believe in what you are doing and you are always painstaking in laying out the facts as you see them. I also know that your intentions are honourable and that you have no interest in a witch-hunt against anyone connected to Celtic.

I do not have your depth of knowledge and neither do the overwhelming number of Celtic fans.

I also believe that DD, Peter Lawwell and the board are always driven by what is right for Celtic and this is not always popular amongst some of the support because they are not in full possession of the facts.

I honestly think that Resolution 12, LNS & the so-called 5 way agreement are now ‘water under the bridge’ – UEFA have ‘other fish to fry’ in these troubled times.

Do I think that Ibrox, backed by the SFA got away with some things – yes I do.

How I reconciled it and moved forward was by considering this.

Rangers were held up to ridicule. It was shown that their way of doing business, i.e. win at all costs and under any circumstances, was sleazy and lacked probity.

The club/company was put into administration and awaits liquidation at the hands of BDO, who still maintain that Ibrox Stadium & Murray Park should have been sold to recompense creditors.

Rangers players left the club for no transfer fees and spivs like Craig Whyte and Charles Green took charge. Money was burned, left, right and centre.

The new club started off in the lowest tier of Scottish football and took four years to get back to the top division.

Ibrox lost tens of millions in revenue by being out of Europe for so long….and during the course of this farce, we, Celtic, won 9iar, a quadruple treble, had an invincible season and more importantly, conducted our business, under Peter Lawwell, in an honourable and proper manner.

Now – when the whole Rangers thing came to the surface in 2011, it is my belief that if offered the circumstances that ultimately befell the Ibrox club as a fit & proper punishment, the entire Celtic support would have said “Yesss bring it on”

This is the way that I put it behind me.

    ============

Fair enough but what you describe as Celtic conducting their business in an honourable and proper manner is only possible because of the ignorance of events that I described in my post and you admit to not having even although it has been laid out on the Res12 Archive since 2018.

Now you have that information does that not affect your judgement of what was honourable and proper?

Lying to shareholders at an AGM on two counts is honourable and proper?

Allowing shareholders to believe Celtic would work with them in the knowledge that the route Celtic insisted be followed was down a cul de sac built by the 5 Way Agreement that Celtic were a party to? Or did PL think he would just tire folk out in the long grass?

Failing to stop shareholders/supporters seeking funds to cover the cost of legal expenses amounting to £11k on the basis that what would be uncovered would be used to see the rules of football followed and SFA brought to account.

In effect obtaining funds under a false pretence of PL’s creation from folk who thought they were contributing to a just cause.

Suggesting at a meeting in Jan 2019 that shareholders use their lawyer to give SFA the same information already provided with no thought to the funding required until the issue was raised?

Here is how that is recorded.

4 Jan 2019. Following a meeting with Celtic it was agreed shareholders lawyer should provide a note of assistance to the Compliance Officer, who in September 2018 replaced the previous Compliance Officer responsible for the noncompliance charges of 15 May 2018 relating to June and September 2011 only which excluded the licence granting period of end of March/mid-April 2011 from Judicial Panel Disciplinary Tribunal (JPDT) scrutiny with no justifying reason. All the information necessary in the shape of the HMRC Minutes of 21st March 2011 had already been drawn to the previous Compliance Officer’s attention on 25th June 2018 by the Resolution 12 lawyer and copied to Celtic, who however at the January meeting, signalled they would not use the HMRC Minutes, which had been lawfully obtained, to themselves press the SFA. Not interfering in the process with new information being the excuse.

29 March 2019. Doubts about the usefulness of such a letter of assistance to the Compliance Officer led to delaying any approach whilst advice was sought from an experienced criminal lawyer in relation to March 2011 that subsequently changed the nature of the approach in the letter to SFA.

29 May 2019. After extensive discussion this letter was delivered to the SFA by post seeking answers to questions posed in June 2018 , asking for confirmation that the basis on which the JPDT decided the matter had to be referred to the Court of Arbitration on Sport (CAS) was contained in the 5 Way Agreement, asking if any progress had been made since October 2018 with the CAS referral and pointing to a precedent case that CAS had to be made aware of in any referral that challenged the SFA decision in March 2018 to drop the end of March 2011 licensing period from JPDT scrutiny.

The original with functioning links can be read at

    https://res12.uk/documentation-on-which-the-resolution-celtic-rejected-was-based/

What is not recorded but can be added is that the question of funding was raised and left to be sorted later with Celtic. However in the event when the bill arrived it was paid from elsewhere to keep the legal avenue of approach open.

    Reasonable and proper? Really?

Apart from that what steps were taken to stop a repeat of the same financial doping behaviour which contributed to loss of a title this year and possibly a reverse of CL income flows and with it a reverse of football fortunes that might see a generation of blue domination?

If God forbid that reverse happens next year will you still think PL acted in a reasonable and proper manner, that mendacity to Celtic supporters is acceptable as long as Celtic are top dog?

There is no joy in Scottish football, only the hate and vilification you mentioned and I’m afraid Celtic have played a major role in sustaining it when the opportunity existed to end it in 2012.

  5. Morning All, On the ADBLOCKER issue I found simply refreshing the page did the trick (sometimes twice was required). Also nice to see John Kennedy speaking out about the latest sham production from the ‘authorities’. He may not be head coach material (yet) but he sees this for exactly what it is and threads the needle very well in making the point without inviting a fine/ban/charge for bringing the game into disrepute…

Celtic interim boss John Kennedy says Rangers kid Nathan Patterson should be hammered by SFA

JOHN KENNEDY insists Rangers starlet Nathan Patterson should be hammered by the SFA for breaking Covid rules.

Gers have appealed the six-game ban dished out to the defender, and four other players who attended a lockdown house party.

Boss Steven Gerrard says Hampden beaks should go easy on his players because Patterson is a future Scotland star, insisting a suspension could damage the 19-year-old’s career.

But interim Hoops boss Kennedy has demanded the SFA explain why they have dragged their heels on the appeal, when they acted quickly to hit Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli with a five-game ban, after he went AWOL to Spain.

The hearing will now take place on April 20, leaving Patterson free for the Old Firm Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox next weekend.

Kennedy said: “Steven Gerrard’s got his reasons to do that and say what he said.

“But regardless if you are a talent or you’re not, you’ve still broken the protocols, and there’s a punishment that goes with that.

“Our players are talented too. They have been punished. It’s the same difference.

“We paid money for them and have high hopes for them.

“Look at the Boli Bolingoli situation. Yes, he broke the law, and he was harshly punished for it — rightly so.

“We’re not defending that. But it was a massive setback in terms of his career at Celtic.

“That’s the punishment for stepping out of line. You can’t do it.

“It was made very clear to our players these are the situations that you can’t get involved in.

“One, because you’ll be punished for it, but it also brings extra pressure and scrutiny on the club.

“Bolingoli was punished and we accepted that was the right thing.

    4

Steven Gerrard says the SFA risk damaging Nathan Patterson by hitting him with a banCredit: PA

“These players have been caught breaking the law. The SFA have to address that quickly. It’s consistency that again a lot of people in Scotland will ask for whether it’s with officiating, the SFA disciplinary process or other things.

“It should be very clear in terms of how you deal with situations like this.

“Regardless of the player, and how talented or valuable he is, there has to be a punishment when you step out of line in these situations.

“We’ve been dealt with harshly in the past and had to accept it, and we have to wait and see what comes Rangers’ way.

“I’m not just saying this because it’s Rangers. Aberdeen were dealt with in the same manner as ourselves when their players were involved in their situation.

“There’s a process in place as to how they deal with these things, but for whatever reason, it seems to have broken down at this point, and only the SFA can answer that.”

Patterson was free to play against Celtic in the last Old Firm clash, while the SFA considered what action to take.

Kennedy wants to know why. He added: “We were addressed very quickly in the situation we were in. We had games postponed, and the players were dealt with fairly quickly.

“I really don’t know what the delay and the hold-up is.

“Players who probably should have been banned played against us. They have broken rules.

“The SFA need to address this themselves, and give a bit more clarity to everyone in terms of the hold-up and why it’s taken so long.

“It’s something I think should have been dealt with a lot quicker to remain consistent with all the other decisions that have happened.”

A good post detailing our objections to the objectionable SFA

J Kennedy will not be Celtics, next manager, HOWE we will eventually arrive at filling all the important positions in the football dept, no one knows outside of DD &PL, in the meantime, Kennedy the interim has to face the brickbats from Celtic fans, has to front up against the SFA on the clubs’ behalf, has to put a team on the park worthy of the Celtic strip that doesn’t shrink, has to keep morale in a dressing room which contains at least 10 players who either want away or are leaving, those who remain under contract have no confidence in a club which lack leadership at the top, our PLC has been routed routinely this season by those in charge at Sevco, outfought, outthought, out strategised, their desire to win the league we couldn’t match, how did they get to this position of strength to take the title by 20 points, Celtic PLC showed weakness in 2012, we wanted our business partners back, 30 Aug 2014 — Peter Lawwell admits Rangers’ absence from top-flight has left Celtic with a £10m black hole … are being forced into selling players to make up for a £10 million black hole, we sold our sporting integrity soul to be part of the old firm as we continue to be today, Celtic FC are complicit in the corridors of power we played the game behind the scenes to save Sevco, Eric Riley and Peter Lawwell were on various SPL and SFA committees, to believe that they had no influence or no knowledge is naive stupidity, to the neutral it will appear deliciously ironic that Sevco returned to deny PL his historic 10IAR

Asleep at the wheel was the charge on the banners inside the ground and the protests on the Celtic Way, the evidence is overwhelming on the PLC PL & DD………….. Guilty

UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations have never been without controversy. Since implementation in 2011 FFP has received criticism from a number of quarters; the legality of the regulations, the impact on playing standards and player wages, and the fact that FFP prevents the industry (and clubs) benefitting from substantial injections of external financing. The latter proving a key consideration in the competitive balance in Europe’s top football leagues.

I found this part very interesting, imagine analysts analysing accounts at Ibrox, which set ?

There is once again talk of a salary cap or suggestions of capping transfer spend at club level based on individual budgets. The latter is an approach currently used by La Liga. Spanish club finances are reviewed by analysts who then establish a squad cost limit.

These funds can then be split between transfer fees and wages however the club decides as La Liga does not employ a wage limit. The rules are always evolving in line with changes in club operations and the participation of the clubs is key for this evolution.

The transparency and co-creation of any new rules between UEFA and clubs is of course of vital importance but there is little doubt that salary caps and transfer spend caps will still benefit the bigger clubs.

In Spain, for example, the squad cost limit of Barcelona and Real Madrid is nearly twice as much as the next biggest limit for Atletico Madrid and the ratio between the biggest limit in 19/20 (FC Barcelona at €656.4m) and the lowest (RCD Mallorca at €33.5m) is still 19.58:1 – hardly a ratio that is going to promote more equal competition.

  14. Whether the words should have come from The Board or not is NOW besides the point. They did come from JK and I am pleased he uttered them.

Having read Auldheid`s posts over the years, I have seen evidence which has led to my disgust with the Celtic Board. Being of a positive mindset, though, I would rather praise JK than talk of `shoulds` and `woulds`.
