The trickle of allegations that Rangers failed to properly register football players has turned into a flood. Today’s Daily Mail is the latest to run the story, with evidence from former Rangers director, Hugh Adam, that offshore payments to players “weren’t included in the contracts. They definitely weren’t.
“That was the whole point of them. If they’d been included in the contracts, they would have had to have paid tax on them”
“All the directors heard about them but didn’t take them seriously because they didn’t appear in the books.”
Mail reporter, John McGarry, writes, “Adam’s revelation suggests a clear breach of the SFA rulebook – and is a potential embarrassment to current SFA president Campbell Ogilvie, who had a 27-year association with Rangers, many of them spent as secretary.”
Despite being implicated in potentially the most serious scandal in the history of Scottish football, Ogilvie remains in place as SFA president and is one of the few who will be issued with the private report into Rangers, due next week.
Although it is thought Rangers started their Employee Benefit Trust in 2000, Adam told the Mail he believed a scheme paying players off-contract was in operation from the mid 1990s.
I would like to be the first to congratulate Motherwell FC for winning the Scottish League, Premier Division, in 1995.

Thank you sir.
Ps a snippet from RTCs latest post “We now have two ex-Rangers employees: Darrell King and Hugh Adam confirming the existence of these second contracts. The Sun has published a redacted version of a players second contract, for the avoidance of of doubt, let me assure the SFA &SPL that there is more to come on this story- Much more”.

‘Good Morning Bhoys. Just off nights and wanted to congratulate Mr 67 with a stunning article last night which cleared everything up …’
To save me trawling back, can anyone point me to Mr67’s article referred to above … ?

I would bet my house on Rangers not completing their fixtures this season. In fact, I truly believe the derby game on 25th March will not go ahead. It really is that bad.
Dynamite. Unbelievable stuff. The referees strike now looks like a 2 year old’s tantrum. Historic times.
Its a horrible sound the scuttling of tiny feet as they fight each other to disembark the sinking ship.
new article posted.
With all that is slithering into the open can we really believe that referee’s too were a figment of our paranoid imaginations?
Actually as someone has said I think Hibs were Champions in 1995 if the 3-0 victories are awarded. (Apologies, too lazy to scroll back and give the credit)
Motherwell finished 2nd but lost less points to the cheats.
Hibs are also more likely to make it an issue.

I always wince when I hear of a ‘Lord’ being put in charge of an inquiry. I fear that it’s the establishment’s way of protecting the establisment. Widgery? Hutton?

I’ve just dug out their annual report for 1989. Grant Thornton were their auditors and it was Grant Thornton who signed off. Campbell Ogilvie was the secretary but I know I am missing something with D.C. McIntyre. Rangers paid him off, some say to keep his mouth shut but who knows.
Revised Cup winners
1991–92 Rangers 0-3 Airdrieonians Hampden Park
1992–93 Rangers 0-3 Aberdeen Celtic Park
1993–94 Dundee United 1 – 0 Rangers Hampden Park
1995–96 Rangers 0-3 Heart of Midlothian Hampden Park
1997–98 Heart 2 – 1 Rangers Celtic Park
1998–99 Rangers 0-3 Celtic Hampden Park
1999–00 Rangers 0-3 Aberdeen Hampden Park
2001–02 Rangers 0-3 Celtic Hampden Park
2002–03 Rangers 0-3 Dundee Hampden Park
2007–08 Rangers 0-3 Queen of the South Hampden Park
2008–09 Rangers 0-3 Falkirk Hampden Park
Yet another revelation. When will it ever end? What will the S.F.A.do now? Will we ever see the remit of there Committee of Enquiry? Surely member clubs are entitled to know this? When Hugh Adam withdrew his shares from Rangers, he described Murray as ‘an impressario’ rather than ‘a business man’. Where are the eagle-eyed Scottish Press in all of this? Well done Paul. Keep up the good work!

Not to mention Celtic going for 16 in a row this season!
Quite a bit of sympathy in the red tops for the cheeky wee chappie, he will work for food or something like that. But I have a question, not one that I expect the Laptop loyalists to ask, mind you.
Poor wee Ally has had his tax deducted.
Craig fakeover has not passed that tax on to HMRC
The chirpy one declined a salary for next month
This means he has at least 1 months unused tax allowance
Is Ally now due a tax rebate from the HMRC for that month from the tax that craig whyte did not pay?
Not only are they not paying the tax in the first place they are now getting a tax rebate as well
You couldnae make it up
Anyway that’s the end of rant number one, moving onto rant number two, the poor players were apparently beside themselves and even greeting about leaving the big hoose, I can recall when arriving at the big hoose was a cause to greet, altogether now… aaawwwwwww.
The papers speak sympathetically of the plight of the players (some of whom are millionaires several times over.) I wonder If the press will ever speak sympathetically about the plight of the pensioners and sick and the council employees and injured soldiers who will all go without by the non payment of taxes, probably not.
Anyway that is why we have the timternet.
You all know I keep banging on about Precedent.
Go Google Neuchatel Xamax. Players with 2 contracts, not paying tax, wheeze’s surrounding documentation for UEFA licensing.
Sound familiar?
Not to mention der hun losing 9 in a row and 9 titles won between 95 and 2011 if this is all true. Meaning they would now have 45 titles overall (oops no 5 stars) and the mighty Celts would then have won a round 50 titles, meaning they lose there world champs league titles award as well. Aaw shucks
Some think that Scottish football would be poorer and less competitive without Rangers, but I beg to differ.
Once the cheats have been stripped of their tainted trophies, all the way back to 1995, the Scottish roll of honour will look like this:
Scottish League Champions
2012 TBC (Celtic, barring a miracle)
2011 Celtic
2010 Celtic
2009 Celtic
2008 Celtic
2007 Celtic
2006 Celtic
2005 Celtic
2004 Celtic
2003 Celtic
2002 Celtic
2001 Celtic
2000 Celtic
1999 Celtic
1998 Celtic
1997 Celtic
1996 Celtic
1995 Motherwell
Scottish Cup Winners
2012 TBC
2011 Celtic
2010 Dundee Utd
2009 Falkirk
2008 Queen of the South
2007 Celtic
2006 Hearts
2005 Celtic
2004 Celtic
2003 Dundee
2002 Celtic
2001 Celtic
2000 Aberdeen
1999 Celtic
1998 Hearts
1997 Kilmarnock
1996 Hearts
1995 Celtic
Scottish League Cup Winners
2012 TBC (Celtic or Kilmarnock)
2011 Celtic
2010 St Mirren

2001 Celtic
2000 Celtic
1999 St Johnstone
1998 Celtic
1997 Hearts
1996 Aberdeen
1995 Raith Rovers
A grand total of 15 different clubs will have won silverware (rather than the 9 currently shown in the historical records). Celtic will have won 31 of the 51 trophies between 1995 and 2011, with a strong likelihood of completing their second consecutive Scottish treble this season, and their 17th consecutive league title.
Surprisingly I can only find two seasons since 1995 when Celtic were eliminated from a cup competition by Rangers prior to the final, those both being in the League Cup, in 2001-2 and 2004-5.
We might argue that Celtic would probably have won the trophy in those years were Rangers retrospectively barred for fielding ineligible players, but why rob Ayr United and Motherwell of their historic achievements? They had their day in the sun, so let them keep the trophy to remember it by.
Incidentally, Celtic have emerged victorious on 5 of the last 7 occasions that they have been drawn against Rangers in either of the cup competitions, while on the other two Rangers have needed extra time and/or penalties to prevail. It is a long long time since they beat us over 90 minutes in a cup match, by fair means or foul.
I also noticed, on the list of teams when checking the head to head records on Celtic MAD, that there is a team listed as Rangers London (defunct). I wonder if the adjacent entry will soon read Rangers Glasgow (defunct)…
Is it possible for Wim Jansen’s team and a certain Henrik Larsson to appear in an even better light than they already did? We know now that their achievement was even greater than we thought, that they managed to end the dominance of a systematically financially doped, i.e. cheating, team; that they managed to out-box an opponent pumped up on financial steroids to several weights above his true strength and brandishing a horseshoe in his glove that the referee had willfully ignored. Celtic did it against all odds. They did it by playing the game honestly, skillfully, beautifully.
Jamsiebhoy@10.03,you made me splutter my tea all over the keyboard,I know exactly how you feel,it is just so much fun,as each thread unravels, the situation gets ever more enthralling, trying to think if there is an even better finish than mere liquidation.
Fassreifen,Henrik could only appear in a better light if he cured world hunger, made peace in the middle east, and was able to transform lee mc cullogh into a footballer.
