HUNGARY OR SWEDEN NEXT – IF CELTIC OVERCOME ICELANDERS

CELTIC have been handed a home draw against either Ferencváros or Djurgården in the Champions League qualifying second round – if they overcome Reykjavik.

Neil Lennon’s men, of course, were drawn against the Icelandic outfit in yesterday’s first round draw with the encounter due to be played at Parkhead.

Now they face the prospect of taking on the champions of Hungary or Sweden in their quest to reach the third qualifying stage en route to the money-spinning group stages of Europe’s elite competition.

The second round fixture will take place on August 25 or 26.

Lennon’s side must go through three one-off clashes before a potential two-legged play-off confrontation.

Celtic’s ‘home’ qualifier against Reykjavik on August 18 or 19 could be played at a neutral venue unless they get Scottish Government clearance.

The Icelandic league is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and there is a question mark over them being able to use a so-called travel corridor for the clash in Glasgow.
