“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”

851

“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers” screams the BBC headline ahead of this evening’s interview by Chris McLaughlin of the Last King of Rangers, Our Hero, Craig Whyte.  Whyte has retained private contact with a couple of journalists but he has previously declined earnest requests to go on the record given the level of investigation he is under.  The wrong word could be costly.

But here it is, “I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”.  An unequivocal assertion.

The interview will be broadcast on Reporting Scotland and Newsnight Scotland this evening and has been trailed by every outlet in the land (first trailed by Phil Mac Giolla Bhain last night).  There appears to be genuine surprise in many news outlets.  CQN’ers will be busy checking this this is, in fact, news, not a rehash of an earlier established fact (it is genuine news).

It has been a few months since Our Hero was The Only Show in Town but he can still put on a captivating performance.

Charles Green has yet to respond but he will.  He has no choice.  He could categorically deny the claim, citing Whyte’s court-established reliability, but to do that he’ll have to calculate that corroborating material will not emerge.  The wrong word now could torpedo hopes of a successful share issue next month

A bombastic statement from well-polished PR people is what’s needed.  I hope we’re not disappointed.

“I brought Charles Green in to buy Rangers”.  Kaboom!

Didn’t Green assure the SFA he had no connections with Whyte in order to secure the licence? #Boom #Headshot

The good old SFA you can always rely on them to give out their licences if something dodgy has went down.

    http://local.stv.tv/glasgow/195280-rangers-oldco-to-appoint-liquidators-bdo-to-oversee-winding-up/

Liquidators are to be appointed to oversee the winding up of Rangers oldco as a “matter of urgency”.

Administrators Duff and Phelps confirmed creditors had approved the end of their term at RFC 2012 plc, which was formerly The Rangers Football Club plc.

On Wednesday, the insolvency firm said it would now put forward a winding up application to the Court of Session to make way for the appointment of neutral practitioners BDO, which will be put in place at the insisitence of Rangers’ biggest creditor, HM Revenue and Customs.

Duff and Phelps, formerly MCR, was initially involved with former oldco Rangers owner Craig Whyte on his attempt to takeover the club, which he completed in May last year.

The firm was called in as administrators at Ibrox in February this year after the club had run up debts of up to £134m, including a tax bill of £94.4m, according to Duff and Phelps’ final report to the hundreds owed money by Rangers.

Joint administrator Paul Clark said: “Creditors have today given their approval for the Administrators to bring the administration process to an end and to place the company into liquidation. As a result, we as administrators have instructed our legal team to prepare the necessary application for lodging in the Court of Session as a matter of urgency.

“Should the application be approved, then Malcolm Cohen and James Bernard Stephen of BDO will be appointed liquidators of RFC 2012 plc, and will undertake the process of liquidation of the ‘oldco’ company and the continued recovery of funds for creditors. This will not affect the current operations of The Rangers Football Club in any way as it is a completely separate entity.”

  10. ‘A completely seperate entity’, still the same club ya stupid zombies?

    “Creditors have today given their

approval for the Administrators to bring

the administration process to an end

and to place the company into

liquidation. As a result, we as

    administrators have instructed our legal

    team to prepare the necessary

application for lodging in the Court of

Session as a matter of urgency.

    “Should the application be approved,

then Malcolm Cohen and James Bernard

Stephen of BDO will be appointed

liquidators of RFC 2012 plc, and will

undertake the process of liquidation of

the ‘oldco’ company and the continued

recovery of funds for creditors. This will

not affect the current operations of The

Rangers Football Club in any way as it is

    a completely separate entity.”

  11. The Rangers Chief Executive said: “Yet again Craig Whyte’s version of events paints a misleading picture of what actually happened and it’s regrettable that the BBC is providing him with such a platform.

“The facts are that direct contact was made by our consortium with Craig Whyte in the first instance as it appeared at that time that his shares would have to be secured in order for any purchase of the Club to progress.

“I was not present when contact was initially made but subsequently met Craig Whyte who introduced me to the administrator.

“I had no previous association with Craig Whyte and it is misleading to suggest he ‘brought us in’.

“I was brought to the transaction by Imran Ahmad following Duff and Phelps contacting Zeus Capital in February, due to their experience in the football sector.“

  13. this will be portrayed as trying to spoil the share issue and used to galvanise it, its obvious what this is all about, the msm will come out with proven liar so and so and bitter man

and the orcs will fall in line, green will use this as an attack on his club, then who do you believe a proven liar or

a man who has saved the club, so predictable.

  14. @tommyinglasgow: @BigStuart1888 u got a source for this?i was gob smacked when i read this,if this is true, the gloves are off 4BDO,ive got every number there

  15. What happened to Lord Hodge report into the conflict of interest by D &P

“But, he told the accountants’ lawyers: “There is considerable public interest in this jurisdiction in relation to the administration.”

Lord Hodge added: “I do not want the administration to come to an end without having received that report.”

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-18549293

All of a sudden D & P will call for the liquidators, Awe Naw, I said yesterday you were on the money and nothing I have seen today has swayed me either way.

Either Lord Hodge should have made that decision 2 months ago or he should have announced that there was no conflict of interest.

Will The Vanguard Bears be organising another wee(very wee) protest outside the BBC again? After all, the 1st one was a huge success. Who was it they were supporting again?

    None other than Our Hero.

“The Rangers” is a completely seperate entity from the one that will be liquidated.

Note to any lurking Zombies: a seperate entity. Not a club run by a different company. Not the same club in any sense. Completely seperate.

  22. tomtheleedstim on

I don’t what all the BDO stuff is about. They’re the liquidators appointed by HMRC to oversee the liquidation of oldhuns and the investigation and pursuit of oldcons for the losses.

    Re: Craig Whyte speaks out!!!

This is simply the latest in the arsenal of weapons to extinguish RFC. Nothing less, nothing more. Herr Liewell is employing every National Socialist technique

available, barring outright violence and warfare, to ethnically cleanse Rangers from the Schottish table of life.

The positive and fantastic response by our fans through all of this has sickened the enemy into drastic measures. They have clearly financed Alex Thompson with a large bank account, paid by Liewell and green-lighted by Reid, likely bankrolled by Desmond and legally drawn by Riley and Harper McLeod.

Whyte is a perfect Trojan horse. He was an easy fall guy for Murray and is now likely under the dark hand of the Liewell storm trooper brigade.

  26. Notwithstanding that the Rangers saga has involved a fair few Scottish and Scottish Football establishment figures that are Rangers fans and possibly masons doing everything they can to protect the club they support, this affair is so very much more about greedy men doing everything they can to protect themselves, their money (and/or other people’s money), their interests and (cough) reputations. I expect that the very much more important masons of the world are far too busy doing everything they can to influence the world economies and politics than worry about a piddling, rotten-to-the-core football club in a small North European country.
