‘I DON’T CARE TOO MUCH FOR MONEY,’ GUIDETTI (!!!)

The Swedish striker netted 15 goals for the Hoops during his temporary season-long move from Manchester City.

Boss Ronny Deila was initially keen to keep the 23-year-old, but it was obvious after the turn of the year the hitman would be leaving the SPFL champions when his contract expired. Guidetti’s goals also dried up after enjoying a purple patch in front of goal last autumn.

Guidetti’s former club Feyenoord, Serie A outfit Lazio, French side Marseille and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon all expressed an interest in the summer.

However, he opted for Celta in Spain and agreed a five-year deal after starring in Sweden’s success in the European Under-21 Championship Finals during the summer.

Guidetti admitted: “This club fits me like a glove. It was not money I was looking for, it was something else – it was at this club.

“There were interested clubs playing in the biggest leagues. There were also clear options outside of Europe, but there was nothing my agent took up with me because he knew that it didn’t interest me.

“I understand people who do it, I respect them 100 per cent, but I wanted to play in one of the best leagues in the world.”

Celta finished last season in eighth place in La Liga, but team captain Augusto Fernandez is convinced Guidetti will make an impact in his new environment.

He said: “I get on well with him. John has a way of playing that is very dynamic, aggressive and with a big presence.

“It’s good to have him in the dressing room. Hopefully, he’ll deliver on the pitch, as well.

“He is very open and social, so I don’t think he’ll have any problems settling in.”

Guidetti left Celtic with the first honours of his professional career in football, winning both a league and league cup medal in his time in Glasgow.
