LIAM SCALES reckons his best years are ahead of him after signing a new contract which will keep him at Celtic until the summer of 2030, at least.
The Republic of Ireland international centre-back has emerged as a pivotal player for the champions over the last couple of years.
Scales, who was recruited by Ange Postecoglou from Shamrock Rovers in August 2021, responded well to the £6million arrival of Auston Trusty from Sheffield United on summer deadline day in 2024.
His consistency playing alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers meant the USA international defender failing to become a first pick.

RISE AND SHINE…Liam Scales leaps high above team-mate Sebastian Tounekti and Hearts’ Oisin McKenna to head clear.
Scales and Trusty have formed a partnership at the heart of the rearguard since the former Spurs back-four operator has not been seen since collapsing at the end of the 2-1 home Europa League win over Sturm Graz on October 23.
After penning the new deal, the 27-year-old Irishman said: “I’m delighted to commit for another few years here. It’s an amazing club and I’ve grown to love it. I feel a real part of it now.
“I really enjoy myself here, I love my life here in Scotland and it was good for all parties to get this done.
“I’m hoping that these next years will be my best.”
Scales, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “I feel like I’ve got the game experience now, I’ve played nearly 150 games for the club and I’ve played for Ireland.
“It’s all coming together nicely and I just want to continue on the right trajectory over these next few years.”
Scales was banned from the 6-2 Scottish Cup semi-final extra-time victory over St Mirren last weekend, but is expected to be back in place for the crucial league encounter against Falkirk at Parkhead tonight.
