JAUNTY James Forrest admitted he was “buzzing” when he became the 30th player in Celtic’s history to join the 100 Club.
The 31-year-old winger thumped a hat-trick past former Hoops keeper David Marshall in the champions’ runaway 6-1 triumph over Hibs that hoisted them five points clear at the Premiership pinnacle.
The marvellous achievement also put the likeable personality into the club’s Hall of Fame alongside the legendary Jimmy McGrory, Henrik Larsson and Lisbon Lions Bobby Lennox, Stevie Chalmers and John Hughes.
HAPPY DAZE…James Forrest celebrates joining Celtic’s exclusive 100 Club.
Giorgos Giakoumakis joined the goal parade with a double while Daizen Maeda got in on the act with his first league strike of the crusade in the fading moments when he turned in an exquisite pass from Aaron Mooy.
But the spotlight fell on evergreen Forrest who was making his first Premiership start of the season in Ange Postecoglou’s side’s drive towards their eleventh title in 12 years.
The Scotland international forward, playing 451st game for the club, smiled: “I’m buzzing.
“Last season, everyone was talking about it, but I don’t like thinking about it. It’s better once you’ve done it and you can speak about it then.
“It’s incredible and I just want to keep working hard and score more goals. It’s a great achievement and a great feeling.”
CROWDPLEASER…James Forrest shows his joy as he and Anthony Ralston trot up the pitch for the kick-off.
Forrest, speaking to Celtic TV, added: “It was a good performance and the manager changed a few players, so it was important for the squad to go out and win.
“Hibs had been doing well, but the boys who came in put in a good performance and got six goals and could have got more.
“I’ve just had to wait my turn and work hard in training. I’ve been enjoying the last few games and I’ve been feeling good and I was ready to start today.
“I’ve contributed to help the team, got three goals and it was a great day all around.”
