‘I REALLY ENJOYED THAT,’ FRIMPONG

JAUNTY Jeremie Frimpong was thrilled to score his first goal for Celtic as the champions overwhelmed Aberdeen 4-0 at Pittodrie this afternoon.

The 18-year-old Dutchman ran amok against the Dons with his lightning raids down the flank and poor Niall McGinn was terrorised for 45 minutes before he was withdrawn by manager Derek McInnes at half-time – with the Hoops already four goals ahead.

Odsonne Edouard got the ball rolling with the first goal in 10 minutes and Frimpong’s big moment arrived five minutes later when he got on the scoresheet in only his third game for the team after arriving from Manchester City on transfer deadline day.

Christopher Jullien began the move with a ball out of defence to the full-back who took off at full pelt. He zipped away from the flagging McGinn, no slow coach himself, and played in Edouard on the by-line on the right.

BACK OF THE NET…Jeremie Frimpong knocks the ball all over the line for his first Celtic goal.

The French ace cleverly placed the ball in front of the raiding defender who capitalised on panic in the Dons penalty box to roll the ball over the line.

James Forrest and Mohamed Elyounoussi wrapped up the three points before the interval with two more slick goals.

Frimpong, speaking to BT Sport, beamed: “I really enjoyed that. Right from the first minute, we got onto them and kept the ball. We finished our chances, dominated the match and I’m proud of my team.

“I got an assist in my first home game and I got a goal today. It was quality and the fans were great. I love them!

“It’s been a good experience so far and I hope it continues. I’m playing in an excellent team.

“I hope to keep it up and I can only repeat I am enjoying my time.”

Frimpong made his debut against Partick Thistle in the 5-0 Betfred League Cup quarter-final victory over Partick Thistle last month and he made his Premiership batism in the 6-0 hammering of Ross County last week.

Now it’s 15-0 in total scores after his party at Pittodrie.
